As with many parts for older Porsches, batches seem to be made every few years. When I bought my set in late 2007, it was after an 18 month search. A Rennlister alerted me to inventory and I jumped on it. $4800US at the time.

Hmmm, why would I want Speedlines? Rant!
I really didn't want to pen this note but my evil twin made me do it. And I know I will get flack for my comments....but I just don't get the obsession with Speedlines. Back in the day, there used to be a lust by many for hollow spoke Porsche OEM 18" wheels. Conveniently, they were on my car, ordered from the factory by the original owner....I got tired of them. One of them developed a leak that was difficult to find, found it, repaired it and sold them. That romance collapsed.
All my negativity below notwithstanding, there is a strong market for these wheels, apparently they are available new from Porsche, around $7,000. That would mean a used set should be significantly less, maybe in the range of 5 to 6 thousand....For about $5,000, I could get nearly three (3) sets of O-Z Allegritta wheels (Yes they are cast, not forged, but what do you want for $1,700?) from Tire Rack, which I have done. These wheels are lightweight, cheap to replace a broken wheel were that required. Every car needs 3 sets of wheels! And YES, I have too much time on my hands this AM, hence this post...now back to business. Apologize in advance if I have ruffled any feathers.
As to Speedlines, (Do they have cast centers?) IMHO, which I should probably keep to myself, Speedlines for Porsche are an over-rated waste of money. Too heavy as well as too costly to acquire initially, expensive to replace if a wheel were to be bent beyond repair and just another cause of concern for me as I drive on the street, such as rock chips to the paint, door dings, vandalism from jealous Porsche haters, etc. etc.
However, I'd want them if I were preparing a 993 RS tribute car "Garage Queen" for a Concours....I'd want them just because you don't have them. I'd probably already have them if I had an original 993 RS, but that's not going to happen. I'd want them if I had an extra $7,000 and it was simply burning a hole in my pocket.....
I guess I really don't want them. Speedlines seem too heavy per wheel for me compared to BBS, Forgeline or other light weight wheels. And keep in mind, these are early to mid-1990s technology wheels, not modern by any standard, just expensive.

I was told there were not many left, this is what I would call beginning to get rare
I cant atleast say forsure that someday not long from now they will be one of the most sought after Porsche parts of that time period. Without a doubt they are a very nice piece. For a collector I would say these are a must have.

I am also not a fan of RS Speedlines, I need to keep a set for my RS to keep it authentic.
In the UK/Europe we have a few copies available such as Veloce;
http://www.velocewheels.com/veloceRS/index.html
You can pick up a new set of 4 for around $1600 at current exchange rates.
If you are building an RS tribute car, why not "tribute to Speedline" wheels?
Not that many people can tell the difference immediately or on the move.
