That right-hand photo reminds me of "The Saddle" near the top of Mt. Equinox. Can be tricky when racing to the top in the annual VSCCA Mt. Equinox Hill Climb. Did a few runs there in my Turner a number of years ago.

Last Saturday, a group of us from Suncoast PCA drove Ozello Trail in Crystal River, FL. The "twistiest" road I've seen in FL. Counted 63 curves in 9 miles. Not exactly "Tail of the Dragon," but it will do for now.

Northern California : HWY 36 west from Red Bluff all the way to the coast and HWY 101

Southernn California: Up to Big Bear or Ortega Hwy, but that's a little too fast.

Now, on East Coast Tail of the Dragon... Unfortunately 10-15 years ago the internet ruined it as many other people discovered it. For those who don't know, just imagine 318 curves in 11 miles. Tight curves! No side roads. No driveways. Just curves to feel everything the car has to offer and use your skills. Make sure to stay on your side of the road!

Did that from suggestions posted here when a friend and I did a spur of the moment road trip. I laughed like the village idiot after driving that stretch. Great road with almost zero traffic.

Suches to Helen via Wolf Pen Gap Road and Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway...Often a part of the New Years Eve North Georgia Mountain Run...

Did that summer of '12. Awesome drive. But I was in an X-5, not a 993. Us and another couple. That road on the narrow spine of the ridge just south of Boulder is sure vertigo for anyone.
BTW Stayed at the Boulder Mtn Lodge at your suggestion and dined in their restaurant.
Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, Arches, Canyonlands and Moab in one road trip. The best.

Great trip.

For drives here we have Teton Pass, Grand Canyon of the Snake River, Hoback River Canyon, and Togwotee Pass. Wonderful mountain drives.

Default Best Drive

The Shoreline HWY 1 from US 101 in No CA cutting over at Leggett to the lost coast highway is beyond spectacular. Not because of speed but simply under a canopy of incredible right to and over the road growth, many 180 degree switchbacks, elevation changes and the last two times I drove the 22 mile cut...not a single car or human in sight in either direction. Once at the coast the drive 43 additional miles South to Fort Bragg is also desolate and spectacular.

To me the best drive is when you're the only one there not because you're going excessively fast. That said by the time I got to Bragg my hands and shoulders were killing me

Maybe tracks should be a separate thread, .

Glen is great. Also the two Roads -- Atlanta and America. I vacillate between the three every time I'm asked which is my favorite track...

And ya gotta love Sebring for the history.

S. Grade Rd up Palomar Mtn. Not only exercise for the steering column, the ~4000' climb makes it all the more fun. Part of however long of a loop you want: 50, 100, 150 or more miles. Mountains and Deserts among the choices. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/33.2...3d3e47!1m0!3e0

What a great thread.

Adding to the Tail of the Dragon, NC, this stretch approaching the Dragon along 28 from Almond was really nice. If you are up there look at 28 on the other side of Almond too. I didn't drive it but it looks good too.

JB 911: Yes, 28 is always a fun stretch too. Much faster and more open......always fun when staying at Fontana Village and driving it on the way to the Dragon.

This is one of the first roads I sought out after I rebuilt my 71. Drove it and 36. Mendocino and Ft Bragg should be on anyone's list. Bucket list for me is to drive the 1/101 with my dad in the 71 and me in the 993 from Mexico to Canada. One day.....
