+1, I would just do that one side.

OK, hoisted the car up and I don't think it is the bearing.... It may be the muffler bracket stay is not held on by the bolt in front of the tensioner housing on the passenger side (LHD car as in USA). When I changed spark plugs a few years back, I rounded off this bolt so I had to put a shorter one in but probably didn't tighten it sufficiently in case it was too hard to remove again so it appeared to have backed out so the muffler is lying against the undertray. I suspect it is the vibration from this that was causing the noise.
Now, does anyone know the size of the bolt for this as it doesn't appear to be indicated in the PET diagram. If I remember correctly I ordered it by measuring it but as I do not have the bolt I cannot order the bolt soif anyone knows I'd be grateful if you can let me know. Cheers.

My approach for the fronts....
 

take the car to about 40 KPH, then turn the wheel hard to the right...listen for the noise, and repeat, hard to the left....a big vacant parking lot (Sunday?) is good for this test. If it's a wheel bearing, you hear definite noises as the load kicks in.

Spinning an elevated tire with a stethoscope works well too. If it's the fronts, now is the opportunity to buy a set of 993 RS wheel carriers from Gert...they come with new wheel bearings...you'll need new tie rods too.:burnout:
