Default Sloshing Water in Fuel Filler Hatch

I just returned from a drive to and from Portland Oregon this weekend and discovered when filling the gas tank that the cup where the filler cap for the windshield washer fluid tank and gas was filled with rain water from the torrential rain storms that I had to drive through. Anyone know where this is supposed to drain?!

At the lower side of the filler surround, there is a drain that likes to clog up. Take a thin wire and poke around to clear it. Easy fix. Happened to me once.

OP

Looking at the PET, no drain tube shown - must assume that drain hole in "cup" as you describe in your post must just drain into front left wheel well - inside or outside liner; your guess is better than mine. Would attempt to run some 'weed wacker' cord or some such flexible cable in "cup" drain hole and detect if clogged or obstructed - as a bonus you may discover where the outlet is.

its pretty obvious should be toward the windshield once you open the cover.

I'm going to bump this back up to the top. I have been having a similar problem. I noticed this summer after washing my car that the fuel filler was full of water. Since I have the car up on jacks now, I decided to investigate. I pulled back the wheel well cover to find the filler drainage hose flipped up/kinked 180 degrees. This obviously explains the lack of drainage. I assume someone did this when changing the oil?

Anyway, I have reduced the kink. My question is where is this hose supposed to drain? Where should I direct it? See the attached pic of the reduced hose which is now just "hanging out" Thanks!

Default hose

Simple, just park the left front wheel over a low lying green plant.

Doesn't the oil change occur on the passenger side, while the fuel filler is on the driver side?

Yes, at least on LHD cars. Oil change is also at the REAR of the car. Fuel door and drain is at the front.

My drain hose was zip tied to drain into the jacking point. Suspect it would be hard to reinstall the wheel liner if the hose wasn't tucked in there.

Thanks guys.

Yes I was mistaken about the oil change location. Can you tell how many times I've changed my own oil?
