Default Bike rack on 993 coupe

I know this has been covered a long time ago, but the search facility is still limited to the recent past.

Which roof rack and bike rack systems are recommended for the 993?

I would like to use the Thule rack, but I don't know the correct model number. Anyone?

You want a Thule Model #300 rack. It is made for rain gutters and will not scratch the paind. Got mine of ebay for $75. I checked and there is one on Ebay right now.

Graham,

I have used this model Thule with no problems. I recommend sticking a piece of duct-tape under each clamp before actually mounting the rails - just as a precaution against any scratches on the rain gutters.

I've toyed with a top-box for some time. Looking at the Thule #300 mounts on the Thule website, it works with square section bars. Given the steep curve on the 911 roof gutters, how does that affect teh fitting of boxes etc? Doesn't the box end up nose-up?

Great idea on the duct tape. I have black paint and they Thule can leave a slight swirl mark where they mount.

Dave, the rear-most box shaped bar is not 100% snug due to the rake of the roofline. The front part is very tight though and as a result, there is no movement.

Graham

You need roof carrier set and bike carrier.

- Front roof carrier 951
- Rear roof carrier 953 (28 cm rise, compensating Porsche's falling roofline)
- Bike carrier VeloVise 511 (fork fixpoint for better corner stability )
- Wheel Carrier 545-1 (for front wheel, if you dont want to keep it on backseat)

(there right bike carrier but incorrect roof carrier on this image)
