Default This just in from Dallas.....

Rec'd a new wheel today from Dallas Steering Wheel. Sure, the three spokes are cool, but I like the 4./stock version. They sure do nice work.

I'd actually bought a used stock donor wheel from JPP recently to send to them for some tricks, but when I contacted Donald for pricing, he happened to have this one ready to go, which met my spec. He also had a leather covered bag to go with it, but I passed-wasn't keen on some trim. I think my stock bag will look fine mounted.

It goes on tomorrow, I'll post the "after" pics then.

Anyone need a spare wheel?

Looks proper, Ed. Nice and (mostly) stock.

Thanks Josh

Rudy-it would've been between $500 and 600. With his config. Just a recover is less than $400, IIRC.

Ed,
I also like the 4 spoke over the three. I have a spare wheel w/bag in my basement and I'm looking to do the same. What was the thickness of the padding on yours?
Thanks
Greg

I like it, Ed. I bought an extra 993 wheel for $50 several years ago to send off to Dallas for the same treatment although I was planning on Alcantara.

Looking forward to the install pics.

Default WTB - 4 spoke Tiptronic wheel needing recovering or not.

+1 . . on the OE 4 spoke wheel preference. A good looking recover by Dallas Steering Wheel . .

Looking for a donor "tip" wheel to facilitate a audio/cell control modification.

The padding is 1/16"

I was thinking Alcantara-but had too many reports from people that is doesn't hold up well, for long.

Well, after some modification, I got it on today and learned why the early '95 steering wheel is different. Supposedly, the wheel I got was, but it wasn't. The pics show the difference-the mounting bracket on my wheel was much deeper. The mod was trimming the higher bosses molded into the new wheel down, to accept my bracket. It only took about 10 minutes, so not a big deal. I like the looks of the final product!

Pics starting with "before" ending with "after".

Don has done a few steering wheels for me, fantastic work (and fast) but his prices have really gone up over the years. I too prefer the four spoke and the one Don recovered for me turned out great with the 1/16 extra padding.
