Car Barn Permit Submitted
 

BIG day for me tomorrow, i am finally submitting my plans to the town to build my car barn after over a year of planning. The barn will be a hybrid post n beam and stick built, heavily insulated with radiant heat in the slab. I plan to be able to store 5 cars and have a separate mechanical area in the rear left corner

It will take a while to unfold as I am doing alot of this build myself to help keep the costs down

Already through the wetlands folks and received the permit for work in the regulated area
Hope it goes through quickly, i can't wait to start

Your plans look good however I would make the following changes.

I would look at increasing the slab thickness to 6" reinforced especially under the work/parking bays. This would be best for securing bolts for car lifts etc. Show control joint locations so to minimize cracking.

Provide either continuous trench drain or other means of draining water off of floor.

If budget allows run hydronic in slab heat system.

Provide separate acoustically separated room for air compressor.

Overhead power cord and pneumatic hose reels keeps the floor clear.

Run enough data outlets so that you can plug laptops and Webtv flat panels.
