I believe Gamroth/Rothsport was supply fuel injection systems to Cosworth for the Singer engines...

There is alot of Rothsport about this engine custom ITB adapters, Jenvey ITB's, Rothsport throttle linkage, 996 GT3 Intake Plenums and filter adapter. The vacuum manifold is different to the one normally supplied by Rothsport, as is the arrangement under the vacuum manifold, which looks like an ISV valve of some sort with a small filter on the side.

This type of engine is very expensive to build, its not only the parts, but is all the custom machine work and measurement, and rechecking of clearances etc. see my sig for how I know.....

Am I the only one who thinks $50k for such an engine is just retardedly expensive?

steven is dead on in terms of cost. however, for those of you with the skill set and tools to wrench this stuff together yourself (steven,
mike j, noah, robin, etc.) i would think you can probably knock off 20k in labor. for us mortals...it's a different story.

I would hope they got rid of the dual distributor, and went with coil packs to clean up the look a bit.

$50K for a 993 engine is certainly a lot of money when you can buy an entire 993 for less. But when you look at the parts and labor involved in building such an engine, $50K becomes entirely reasonable. You're talking about an engine that from the crankshaft out to the exhaust tips is customized, modified, and perfected.

Agreed. I spent well over $40K to rebuild my old 993 RSR engine a few years back and we didn't go too crazy. It still made +/-400 at he crank. Great to see advancements with air-cooled engines.

It's definitely out of my league. If my net worth was closer to Bill Gates' than $0 I would have one like it in one of my Porsches.

Things like that engine are expensive just because it's all custom stuff almost 1 off

I was in the boat building business where we could never compete in the smaller 30 -70 ft range because we were building custom 1 offs to the owners specs and competing against (relatively) mass produced f/g

Mass production is a powerful thing

now, in the bigger boat arena it's almost all one offs all you need to do is find customers w/ $3-20 million burning a hole in their wallets
