Help From Gary Stratton Ducktail Owners

I purchased a Stratton ducktail lid and I'm preparing to install the grill. What I would like to know is, is there a special way and/or trick to mounting the grill? I ask this because I noticed the grill doesn't fit perfectly inside the recess. What I mean by this is, the center of the grill has a bit of a bow and one end of the grill sit a little higher then the other.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You need to use an older grill from an SC or 80s Carrera...the 993 grill wont work with a ducktail, at least with some of the more common brands.

ABCar,

Thank you for your reply. I believe I have the correct grill P/N 911 559 411 01, designed for a 86 911. Have you had experience mounting this grill on a Stratton ducktail?

Stratton ducktail

Using the factory T-bolts, spacers, hardware, etc, I started from center and worked outward to snug things down evenly as there was a small outward " bow" as you described. The grille will flatten out with time/heat.

I have not installed a grill on the Stratton...I think mine is M Shaw or similar. However, this is heritage stuff and I imagine they are all the same. Follow Van's advice above and good luck!
