Rinty, looking good!
Fossil....been there, what a funky place.
Have step-son and grandson in Bend, they have a cabin in that Fossil area....great Elk hunting.
I have an extra Harley staged at his place in Bend....but seems every time we go down to ride the weather shuts us out.
After seeing your pix I'm going to have to make the extra effort to run those roads, rain or shine!

Gordo:

Lucky you, with that extra Harley in Bend.

993passion:

Welcome, and I understand you have some pretty decent P-car roads in France!

Hey Rinty,

Great to see you still "active" on the Rennlist. What a great story and marvellous pictures! Hope to see you again in Calgary… we're in La Quinta right now with our 2010 Audi Avant till April.

Thanks for posting a lovely story, BTW, the 993 shows really nicely!

Great pics, thanks. I have an FJR1300 that loves that country. Will need to check the maps next time for these roads.

From Shaniko we headed west to 197, then north to the Interstate, and overnighted in Hood River, another fun place! We parked next to this Oregonian’s GS; he was from the south part of the state:

At this point in the trip, Karin persuaded me to take a side run into Portland. I was worried about driving the car in Portland traffic, but found an easy route from the Interstate to a downtown hotel. Our room had a nice view of the Willamette River:

Our hotel room had a big map desk:

We had never been to Portland before, and really liked this beautiful city. The highlight of our visit was going to Jake’s Famous Crawfish Restaurant (the one on Twelfth); an absolutely fantastic place. We extended our stay an extra day, so we could enjoy it a second time:

BTW, does anyone here own the beautiful yellow Turbo 993 that I spotted downtown?

(to be continued)

That would be a fun bike, in there. I had a memorable ridge run on an FJR in Idaho a few years back.
