Price thought on 98 C2S
Testing the waters on a 993. Figure I owned a 85' 3.2, 964, so logically I have to have a 993 next. Have a good friend who has owned the car since 2000. Porsche mechanic that primarily only works on air-cooled motors and has been since the 60's. Very trustworthy mechanic & friend.
1998 C2S Guards Red/Black (I thought he said they only made approx. 450 C2S's that year)Car was 3M'd by him when he bought it, so outside is 9 of 10. Inside is 9 of 10.
37k miles.
Only changes were Turbo brakes and H & R lowering springs. He of course has done all maintenance(no issue's). He is very particular about his cars and cars he works on including my RSA. Don't want to insult him with a low
offer. What would be fair? Car needs nothing. Has several other cars and just doesn't have the time to enjoy it, so looking for a good home…….why not mine!

I say the only way you win at this deal is to make him go first. Ask him what HE wants for it.

IMHO which is worthless, North of $55k for individual sale ... $65k-$90k for a dealer depending on how nutty they want to get. As for standard 'brother discount' $35,250 I think
Regardless it would take many months to track down an equivalent car, passing on the opportunity has a cost as well...good luck

But that black C2S with about the same mileage was just bought the other day for $35K. Now the fact that he was the brother of the dealer's GM shouldn't be of any consequence in the OP's valuation.

At current market rates, it could fetch $65K in a private-party sale, and much more via a dealer. The low mileage drives the valuation along with overall condition. If you have an uneducated, good-natured, and/or indifferent seller you might be able to get it for $55K or less, and that would be a relative bargain.

Of course, in selling it to you he is assured of the revenue stream attributable to the ongoing maintenance. Hence, all else equal, there is an argument for some amount less than a free-market transaction.
