Hey Sonny1 - thanks for selling me those POS 997 carrera ll wheels

Agree. The only time one should describe something as "perfect" is if it's....perfect. Doesn't excuse the buyer's behavior, but as Juha pointed out, selling used parts is all about managing expectations. Don't call something perfect if it's not -- because the buyer is going to expect perfection when he opens the box, and when he doesn't get perfection, he's going to be angry and disappointed.
Agreed. We can all learn from this thread. It is unfortunate it happened and had to be aired like this. The few items I have bought here have all been undersold and over delivered. That to me should be the RL spirit we all strive towards.
Hopefully the above dispute can come to a speedy resolution, and off the board.

Well, since the OP decided to take this particular private matter and make it public, which I think was a mistake, here's my 2 cents after reading this thread.
Sonny made a big mistake listing the wheels as "perfect". "Perfect" means perfect; which means no scratches, etc., which Sonny admits to in a previous post. Now, from reading his posts, it's also clear that communication is an issue with Sonny as it either appears English is not his first language or he has a strong cameo as the short bus passenger in "Dumb And Dumber III: The Auto Parts Edition"
Gotta say, Sonny dropped the ball as the seller.
Now, that said, I sure don't think this thread has made the buyer look like the hero either. Buying anything used almost means by definition that it's not gonna be PERFECT. The seller paid $1600. How much would new, unused, PERFECT 997 wheels cost? More than $1600? If so, as others have said, it probably would have been better to manage your expectations and realize you were buying $1600 wheels, not perfect ones, no matter what Short Bus Seller said. If you are hellbent on perfection, buy locally and take the wheels to get them inspected before you seal the deal. Also, as the buyer points out, he could have done a simple search and found out the seller was a crook, but chose not to do that before hand. Still, he should have got what was described and paid for.
I can understand the buyer's frustration and understand his POV. Had Sonny sold what he advertised he wheels to be, this thread would not exist. So I'd say the buyer has a right to be upset, but he didn't handle the outcome PERFECTLY.
To me, this thread has not shown either party in the best light. At the end of the day, since the CC reimbursed the buyer half his money, this has turned into a public feud over $800. This thread has sullied both parties IMHO.
After seeing how both parties behaved, I sure wouldn't want to buy from the seller and I don't think I'd wanna sell to the buyer.
Hope this all works out well for both parties

I didn't start the thread to recover $800.
I started the thread to help fellow Rlisters from losing money.
I did everything I could to get a refund. And I returned the wheels.
Perhaps I shouldn't take it rennlist public, but you shouldn't ship bent wheels with holes in them.
Some other thread I found while researching Sonn1:

I've bought and sold lots of stuff off of the Pelican classifieds - never had a problem. When it comes to wheels... big ticket item that has the "He said - She said" potential. I recently purchased some 993 Cup II wheels from Parts Heaven. They needed refinishing but they were perfectly straight and true (I had them checked). Costs just a bit more but you avoid all the headaches .

When I was younger, I actually spent 4 years acting on a soap opera, and I can say there's way more drama on this site at times
