Tree sap solution?

Parked under a tree at Cars & Coffee Carlsbad this morning and got bombed with sap. Stubborn stuff. Required lots of elbow grease with Turtle Wax gentle bug and tar remover.

For future reference, any recommendations on stronger stuff that won't harm the finish?

Usually car wash detergent and water us all it takes.

Speedshine + claybar

Usually if you get to it quickly soap and water is all it takes. After it hardens, it can be a b*tch.

Ha! That is freaky!!

I was at Cars & Coffee Carlsbad today, too, and spent nearly all day afterwards cleaning that &%$% sap off of my car! I had just waxed it a couple days ago, and still that sap was tough to get off. Little pin-head sized flecks all over my car, each speck required scrubbing. I used Mother's Spray Wax, but it was a bitch to get that sap off.

Jeez, I should go out and buy a lottery ticket... what are the odds that not only would someone have the same thing happen in the same place, but also post about it here... I was about to make a similar post!

secret sauce is original formula Rain-X. just a squirt on the spot and it dissolves the sap

That is why I didn't/don't park under those trees. That, and the dust/pollen coming off them in the Spring.

There are several threads about it. Clay bar works as does getting wet towel putting it in the microwave, then letting it sit on the sap, then wipe away. No scrubbing involved.
