RS Motor Mounts
Just got back from taking my 96 C2 out after installing the new RS motor mount......Wow!!! I bought these as somewhat of an afterthought about a month back when I ordered a few other odds and ends from Sunset, I should of done this back when I installed the new Bilstein HD's and MO33 springs from FD. What a difference in shifting!! Definitely feel the difference in how planted the rear is also.
FWIW the old stock mounts didn't look or feel bad, tough for me to tell. I was considering the FD Goldenrod since the shifting action was so sloppy, now I'm not sure whether or not to bother lol. Probably will still get it based on reviews.
Sorry to post this up for those who have already done this, I just wanted to let those who were on the fence with stock mounts (as I was) to know how much better the car may feel. I had read many reviews, most good and some said they did not notice a real difference, glad I went ahead and pulled the trigger. The wife held the upper ratchet while I torqued the bottom nuts, install took all of an hour with me put-zing.

Another thing that was considerably improved that I forgot to mention above was the clutch feel when pulling off from a dead stop. I've been driving clutches for decades and this 993 always made me feel somewhat clumsy with it's action, now it feels VERY direct and I frankly feel like an idiot for not doing this before lol.

Agreed. I did M030/HDs, then RS mounts, then GoldenRod and SSK. I think the GR/SSK was more of an improvement for me than the RS mounts. The RS mounts did clean up my 3-2 downshifts on the track, but the GR/SSK you feel the difference EVERY shift.

Call or email Sunset Porsche in Oregon, tell them what year / model you have and they will email you a detailed quote. IIRC, ~ $380 for both mounts and all associated bolts / washers. A little more than Wevo Black pillows but from what I had researched a touch less firm, the RS's are as close to stock as possible without going stock.

But they are a little different. The motor mounts planted the rear end a bit more, while the Golden rod makes shifting a more precise mechanism.

Funny - in both of my personal 993's i would say there was zero difference between the stock mounts and the rs ones. I hear this feedback of how significant the difference is, but for me it was nada. Maybe my old mounts were in good shape, not sure. Had the same report to a number of other locals too....
Just another data point.
Cheers
