Default Panamericana - Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed Collection

Anyone remember this car:

<>

This and a rather remarkable selection of significant Porsches presently on display at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, North Carolina through January 20, 2014 if anyone happens to be in the neighborhood.

Yes. Named after the Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico. I have 5 tiny 1:64 scale models of it in different colors that were available from dealers back in the day ....
It was my favorite design study in the 80's and the predecessor to many 993 features like the sliding glass targa and front and rear bumper/wing designs. IIRC the tire tread has Porsche crests cut into it ...

Wasn't that a birthday present from the design team for Ferry Porsche?

Dr. No, You're right... and it does have crests as the tread! Pretty cool!
ilko, maybe you'll make it before it closes at the end of Jan.

It most certainly does:

As seen in Zuffenhausen in April.

I saw it at the Porsche museum. The ugliest Porsche ever made. Ferry rejected it as a birthday present.
