Lost a belt today and broke a fin off my impeller fan. WTB used fan.

1 fin broken isn't so bad, check out this one...

You might want to just buy a new one (comes with new fan bearing, which is about 1/2 the cost of the fan+bearing anyways)....but its an "ouch" sized price.... roughly $400. If you go used, carefully inspect it before buying, and if the fin tips are delaminating pass on it.

Yes, Kika-It was the belt closest to the fan itself which I think is the alternator belt. The other belt at the fan is still intact and when the engine is running the fan turns.
Keith-Holy smokes. Thanks for the link. Actually made me feel better as mine wasn't near as bad. The shroud casting got scratched up inside by the one flying fin. (<-not the rennlister )
I have the fin. It landed and stayed on the bottom of the shroud. My shroud casting is fine. I think a new shroud casting is like $700. Ouch.
The flying fin or belt took out the plastic shroud cover on top. Thats only $60.
Moral of the story-change your belts as a maintenance item. I should have known better. I'm sure mine are original (they are Porsche belts) and despite only 32K miles the belts are 16 years old was a poor oversight on my part.

Badda Bing. Back on the road. Big shout out to Karl the owner of RennsportKC for working me in on moments notice. Sunset rocked also with all the parts in stock.

Not familiar with the fan design/construction. I assume it's cast. What would delaminate at the fan tip?
thanks

+993. When I bought this 2S in New Jersey Karl and I flew out together and he did the PPI in a Rennlisters garage on a Friday night. He put all his necessary tools in a checked suitcase and off we went.
