Default 997 turbo engine and a 997 CUP/RSR sequential transmission in a 993??

I need more power...a 700hp 993t track engine will cost a fortune, a 700hp 997t track engine on the other hand will be much cheaper. And in order not to loose time while shifting gears, a 997 CUP or RSR sequential gearbox is in order.

Anyone done this in a 993? Possible? Feasible?

I've seen a GT3 engine bolted to a 1974 911, so why the hell not. But you will have to get VERY creative with cooling. There are A LOT of radiators in my 997TT, as well as intercoolers, etc. And that's on a stock car. To push 700HP you'll need even better cooling...

Fitting radiators up front shouldn't be a problem...lot's of space there and REALLY good flow through the EVO bumper. For intercooling GT2RS cores should handle it (that's what I have on my Eaton heat pump now...)

Here's a comparison speed vs position between my 993 and a friends stock 6GT3.
The GT3 starts pulling away after 140km/h...at 180km/h it's a rape!
You can see the in the left side, my car is doing 140km/h and longitudinal acceleration is 0.266*G and the GT3 at the same spot is already doing close to 150km/h and still accelerating strong by 0.325*G
You can also see where my aero is helping me...in the middle of the graph (where the greatest speed is achieved) you can see how my friend needs to lift a little in the GT3 (this is a +190km/h left hand sweeper, not a straight) and I can plow through the turn with my foot planted.

It is all because of my aero. It works very well in corners but really kills the acceleration after 140km/h. This is why the factory cars had +600hp...

Don't get me wrong...the car is stupid fast but I got used to the power already and the chassis is ready for big power.

I think fitting in a DRS will be cheaper if it's the aero's fault.

LOL!

But I need both the power and the aero in the fast corners...

you priced a cup sequential box or modified 997tt engine and all the mods to get it in? if you think this will cost less than a fortune, you are dreaming imho.

i think you simply own the wrong car if these are your goals.

Juha,

Friend of mine just rebuilt his 997tt motor with the usual comprehensive upgraded internals and an intercooler/turbo package from Champion. When all was said and done, dyno, mapping, etc., he spent 50k on the rebuild (parts & labour). And of course he already owned the motor. Motor is good for an easy 800hp.

That's just as a reference point.

If you go with a 997 sequential box - and you can find a used one that isn't grenaded - you're looking at 25hr rebuild intervals that could easily run to 15k with parts & labour.

Add that to engineering, plumbing & rads for a cooling system and god knows what else and....

I would forget all that and build a rock solid 993tt motor shooting for 550hp with a tilton CF clutch, 997 cup flywheel, turbo axles, upgrade your LSD, side plate, shift forks... and go have fun

Sell your 993 (to me)
OR
install a built 993TT motor with a good tune and a sequential shifter.

What you burn in the 993 engine build will be cheaper then a 997 frankenstein install.

Your next build should be a tuned 997GT2 with full clubsport cage, cup doors and CGT seats.
(RSR wheels and body work would be a bonus.)

If you want faster shifts you could always build a tuned 997.2 PDK Turbo S, convert to 2wd, GT2 uprights, suspension, cup doors, sunroof delete, CGT seats and full clubsport cage. (full rsr body work would be a bonus. see below)

I was just talking to my mechanic this past weekend about a GT3 engine in a 993. He paused for a moment and said that anything was possible, especially when you have deep pockets. Hopefully you have deep pockets.

why not just buy a cup car...it will likely be cheaper, and the whole thing is purpose built.

If you can't turn a fast lap in that, well, you may need to work on driving.

Or a sports racer. Love the 911s, but nothing beats a purpose built race car.

Or maybe an little ol' E36 M3 (last weekend at the NASA Nationals at Miller):

Hey Juha,
Your best bet is to build a good bullet proof air cooled engine, it can be done, it will be cheaper than your dream project. On the other hand, I just did a GT2 RS gearbox (G9788) conversion on a 993TT, and that can be done without much problems, then you can throw an SQS sequential and you will have a quick car with excellent shift throws.
