negative(s) to ridin' low AND w/o tray. WTB Heat Box

hello, all ! ( been a while )
hopa all of you are doing well & enjoying good health. :bigbye:

well... i knew, in time, something would happen as the cab has settled quite a bit since last tires & alignment/height adjustments.
looks badass & still handles very nice @ higher speeds...
but we know the drill:

-watch driveways; go sideways IN&OUT

-watch curbs & remember that hottie sitting in the passenger seat may not think (hopefully she can?) as she opens the door. so a good time to act gentleman-like. get the door for her.

-watch!!! what you clear up front may not clear the rear bumper.

-remember down closer to stones may mean more chance of a chip, etc. the two i have are passenger side, both from past funruns! both worth it imho.

-watch!!! backing down driveways... go sideways esp if wide pipes.

-& prob most of all: watch a few car lengths ahead (makes for a better line as well) ;)

-OH & watch out for very tall speedbumps, consider avoiding alltogehter

fwiw think i clipped a very high speed bump & it cracked the tip of the passenger side HEAT CONTROL BOX (pt: 993 572 087 00). realized it when i drove on hearing a can dragging sound. as i pulled into the nearest lot, i could hear part of it fall into the gutter. YUP... that was it.

thinking back to longer seat time days... i do remember when i'd check items like this throughout the year & find clamps needing tightening, etc. check drops links, as Tony Callas taught us, etc... so it may have been loose to boot. my bad.

so, without draggin on much more about it. anyone let me know if they have a heat control box they'd like to sell or oem parts supplier/suggestion? i will ck out pelican parts tonight & see if stock, etc. guess i'm still lucky it's a diy-er.

thank you all & hope ya'll have a great summer (what's left of it)
:biggulp: cheers

Yep, this is the big downside to running without an engine tray that's seldom mentioned. I tore mine off backing out of a driveway when it snagged. They aren't cheap to replace either.

Wish I had one for you. You can buy them new for a few hundred, but I was able to find one from a guy picking apart a 993 for about $100 or so.

Good luck.

mahalo for the well wish! just ck'd on pelican BUT nada in stock. :corn: will call around. weather sooo nice this week too. don't want to run without fixin.' think she's pissed as i've been drivin' the pepper most of the time. she got me.

You can run without it, just don't use the heater until you fix it.

Yes, lowered cars without an engine tray are especially prone to damage to the heater box. Really nice 993 you got there.

Good to see you posting, Rich! Sorry to hear about your heater box.

I saw your handle and thought this must be an old thread. Sorry that a mishap brings you back. Good luck finding one, and do drop by more often! :)

Did you have the car towed because of this?

guys... also, let me add that this is the 1st time (in est. 10yrs) I've had an issue from no engine tray & being low.

& yes andreas, had it flat bedded as i was not in clothes or an area where i could get under to get a full look-see to est. possible damage.

also, to those (oh so) knowledgeable 'listers'.... Q: is there a diff between left & right part. i have yet to pull cab up to take a look. was thinkin no?

sounds funny but, i'd rather have a like-aged part under there to match SO prefer used. :icon107:
