Whats wrong with using the crossmember just behind the case?
I bought a set of mini ramps, that are like 2.75" high, and after driving up onto the ramps, I then jack from the big alum crossmember, just aft of the case.

Everyone has their own method for getting their car up on jackstands... whatever method you chose, just make sure it doesn't mangle the jacking points. I've seen too many cars where the "flat" jacking supports are damaged.

And, it isn't bad form to put a wheel or wheels under the car for added safety, in case a jackstand has a problem, or it is not safely placed. There have been a few reports of personal injury in these situations.
Of course, all of these reasons are why a lot of folks here buy lifts....
