Porsche 993: a 911 lost in translation

What a thread to pop in on when I'm just killing time on my phone...............
Merely based on the thread title, I don't get it. Maybe when I've got myself in front of a real keyboard in the AM I can give some complete thoughts.

I don't know the meaning of this thread but I love my 993 and Scarlett Johansson is not bad either.

I think of the 993 as more of a bridge, than misunderstood; better executed than say a 996. As a handoff from the 964, the 993 further modernizes the hand built chassis with an evolution of suspension and brakes, while intriguing us with the seduction of the best curves the model has seen.
Lost? No.
Air cooled translated, as it points to the future? Yes!

Don't get me wrong, I love the 993 and the advances in the driveline, but it got too smoothed out all around.

993 is the most refined air cooled 911 of all time. Not too refined however. Just enough that it still makes for a good daily driver even at 17 years old!
Nothing lost here.

I wish the 933 looked a bit more like the 964 with regards to the front end/fenders. The rear end is fantastic.

The 993 is the only 911 I have ever owned. I have only driven a 1970 911T and a 2000 996 for comparison. I was driven to and from hockey practice and games in a 914 when I was a kid.
I do not know what "lost in translation" means in the original title/post though. It is my favorite car I have ever owned. Period. But I have owned some crappy cars

I totally agree the back-end of the 993 is perfection! The front is a little weak, but for me the RS splitter helps.
