$42.5? It's more reasonable than $82k but it has 73k mi and had an accident. IMO both are over-priced. Only the blue cars owner will be less offended with the counter offer.

See! Now that is beautiful. Why oh why does it have to be tiptronic though!

Seriously.. How much would a manual tranny conversion cost?.. Would it be possible?

The seller is a dealer: http://www.lionseek.com/cars/brand/p...che-c2s-482002

Only a dealer would ask this kind of price.

Nothing in that link suggests dealer apart from the crazy asking price.

I just don't get why some of you would be criticizing an asking price or a transmission type on a car you all clearly cherish. Are you hoping the value never goes up or that no one would ever consider a tip over a stick? Open your eyes, collector car values are escalating rapidly and scarcity and originality count for a lot.

The vast, vast majority of us on here don't cherish an 80k+ C2S with a tip -- and more importantly, neither do the overseas buyers that drive that kind of pricing.

I fully realize the priorities of most of the members on this board, however; not cherishing, or not appreciating certain characteristics that determine value is different than criticizing.

The problem with values going through the roof, eventually the objects with the skyrocketing price become less an object to enjoy, and more an object to put behind glass.

Default Is it dealer greed?

This is like force feeding a baby to grow quicker.
The 993 is like a bottle of fine wine the older it gets the more it's worth. By asking these skyrocketing prices dealers are trying to accelerate the car's worth prematurely, at some point in time 993 enthusiasts will stop buying them because of their inflated prices exceeding their actual worth, then we all lose. It just doesn't make sense to ask $82K for a car that's really worth $42K, seller greed will be the downfall of the 993.

Well...although I get the essence of what you're trying to say and agree with much, it's a little hyperbolic.

It's all supply and demand, really. There are X number of 993s left. Those with money will always be able to pay. At several thousand examples, there are enough to go around, and yet, not so many that I think the "downfall" of the 993 will never happen

^^ Looks like it's at a dealer. Do you know his reserve is $99K? Biding is up to only $49,995 with reserve not met.
