Default Frustrating with TPC Supercharge & Unichip

Anybody having issues with the combination of TPC Supercharge, Intercooler, Unichip and the 7th & 8th injectors where the system would hiccup and try to stall? Please shine some light. I would be very interested in hearing about on how did you resolve the issue. TPC Racing is not much help and no one in the Tampa bay area knows how to tune the Unichip. Any help will appreciate

add on injectors are a hokey band aid solution.

they should just increase the size of the 6 primary injectors.

Could be lots of causes on the hiccup and stalling. Can you provide futher details?

Probably most common problem I can see is the electrical wiring. If not properly tapped and soldered, the unichip can read or cause false signals to and from the flywheel/CPU, senors, etc.

Find a dyno and run the car on it, post the charts with the O2's. I bet you are running super rich, that is causing the problems.

My car is getting a UniChip next week, luckily there are 2 tuners in my area!

Try bob brooks (viper bob) at VSR Performance (used to be Vortex) on hillsborough ave, or Kenny at Chili Performance on Anderson road.

Have you contacted TPC and talked to Tom Chan? They should be able to untangle this as it is their product.

Do you have a light weight flywheel? When/what conditions does the hiccup take place?
More info needed.

I have the older TPC setup, no inter-cooler, no issues.

Good Luck!!!

Unfortunately we had to stop selling TPC superchargers because we could not have access to the Unichip programming system. TPC could not give or sell us a licence, Unichip SA would not sell us a licence and our nearest "distributor" refused to help us get a licence, insisting that we take all the cars to them for tuning - 250 miles north in Scotland - in spite of his complete lack of Porsche knowledge. I made the hard decision not to sell a product that we could not support as every conversion we did prior to the Unichip change required dyno optimisation. Good luck finding a solution.

I used the unichip system at first on the install. I would rarelyl but occasionally get the stall, just at very low rpm like negotiating my driveway just as I would pull the clutch in it might die. Rare. But the AFR also fluctuated from very cold spring to very hot summer. We invested in the unichip cable and tuning license (like $3-400 if I recall) so my shop could tune it and that allowed us to get it much more efficiently tuned than doing dynos and sending back/forth to TPC. I think if you are sticking with the unichip this is almost required. I also had an AFR meter installed along with some other monitors for IAT and EGT due to paranoia but it helped decipher what was going on in real world conditions early on in the process.
This past winter we pulled the unichip system/extra injectors and went with larger injectors and Protomotive retuned the ECU. I am much happier with it - just runs more like factory in all conditions. I would recommend going that way for anyone doing installs if they have a shop with the abilities.

Default Frustrating with TPC Supercharge & Unichip

Thank you for all your recommendations, I am deeply saddened to announce I no longer have the car due to a fire from the engine compartment

Wow! Very sorry to see that.

Any idea what the cause was?

That really sucks! We all wish you the best, I carry a fire extinguisher, not sure how much it would have helped.
