Default NEW 911-50

Anyone seen the video featuring the 63 911 matched with the 911-50? It is really good and the car is absolutely outstanding. 430 horses and about 125K LIST FOR STARTERS. I caught the video on my weekly newsletter from my regional PCA club. Check it out. Only 1963 will be produced for obvious reasons.

Another victory for the Porsche marketing department

I saw pics of the car; it comes with 20" Fuchs, some chrome detail work on the front intake fins and rear engine lid, different badging and interior bits such as houndstooth seats.

More hat than cattle, but still, it's one of the nicer 991s.

Is it worth the extra price for these little details? Hmm who knows...

May have to look some since there are so many on you tube but I checked and the new one produced by Porsche is there. The music alone is worth the search.

Can't say I'm a fan, especially from the rear. The clothe inserts in the seats look a little naff too. Less said about the 'Fuchs' homage rims the better..... hmmm

I believe this is the one your talking about, it's the only one I've seen at least.

Nice, then again it is a 911, what's not to like. It took a while but the newest rear end on the newest 911 looks really good - took them a while to get it right.

Trying hard to be a fan of the 991's, but just not feeling it.
Dealer has a 991 on the floor at something like $140k including additional $4k "market price adjustment".

It has the power package with extra 30 ponies and chrono package package standard so that explains some of the premium.

It also appears to be a 2wd wide body car! Like a 993C2S of today!

I like it. Just wish it wasn't quite so big. And we won't even talk about new Porsche prices.

The new 911-50 is a substitute for those who like the 911 tradition but dare not risk buying a decades old car. But, the truth is there is no substitute. Even Porsche said so.

Only air-cooled 911s are real 911s. There is no substitute.

And does that *** end on the 991 remind anyone else a little bit of Aston Martin?

Sure does, and Aston is the direct competitor to a car like the 991. Both are marketed as high-end luxury GT cars these days.

It's pretty clear the Cayman/Boxster is Porsche's answer to the sports car segment that the old 911s used to inhabit. The modern 911 is their luxury grand tourer.

The modern 911 (991) makes no bones that it's not even the same philosophy that the old air-cooled 911s used to be, no matter how videos they made with them together having similar design cues.

The 991 is a great car. A great luxury GT. Sports car? No. Sporty car? Sure why not. Anything like an old air-cooled 911? Kinda sorta maybe, but mostly very very different. it's also so much larger than the old 911 in that video that the 991 looks like a 911 in the first stage of turning into The Hulk in comparison.
