Not that I'm ever going to drive my 993 in rain, sleet or snow, just my observation.
I agree with the above as well.. I do the relay for AX... And move the rearview mirror out of the way as well. The blades site pretty high on the passenger site, so water/snow collection would be noticeable.

I'd checkout the Wevo mounts instead of the RS. very simple design, cheaper, and you can switch out the bushing for more/less reponse. I have the Blue ones.

Golden-ROD... This should be first for everyone.. Simple, and makes a HUGE difference in these old cars. I did the SSK as well, awsome... FDMoto are the best. Thanks Darin..

Craig, Marco, thanks!

I have Walrod control arm bushings and HD/M030 so there's plenty of feel, but am debating whether to do pinning, especially given the fact that I have one of the pinning kits now.

Add an automatic door lock module;
Add a headlight left on chime module;
Add a keyway illumination led to the dash - powered by dome light;
Upgrade to after-market low-beam HID headlights;
Add tail stop light to open bulb mounting holes in USA center reflector, makes the car vastly more visible at night;
Replace the switchblade key fob with a color coordinated 944 style fob - an eBay item.

Goldenrod, SSK, as mentioned above...

- Conversion of switch blade remote (if equipped with immobilizer)
- Paint fog light housing to get rid of yellowing (if keeping the fog lights
- Get rid of bumperettes, if repainting the bumper (i.e. filling the cutouts)

Pervy, it looks like your wipers are sitting on your (UK) passenger side. Do they come like that in blighty or did you do the mod.

The best "Recommended modifications for 993's" has been already done by Porsche:

It's call a 993 twin turbo...993 twin turbo S, if you must...

993 wipers always park on the drivers side, mine are flipped!

Much better view with them over on the passenger side but if driving in the rain they do not work as well as when parked on the drivers side. Porsche did know what they were doing, results won over looks on this.

I also have the wipers "flipped", I am trying to figure out how there could be any loss, perfomance wise, because once on the move they make the same cycle? Or am I missing something here?

I'm with you...even before they move.
I thought they were on the drivers' side so you can see the passenger corner better since it's further away.

Mike, I also have M030/HD with Walrods bushings. I pinned my tie rods a few months ago at the OC gathering at Marc's.

While the steering was pretty solid before, there was a subtle improvement after the pinning. Not a huge night and day difference, but, definitely better. For the cost, it is definitely a good value mod. IMHO.

I doubt if you will get “THE" list since it depends a lot of personal choice, etc. However, I broke down 911Pervy’s list into categories, added some items, and sorted around what I think the actual depth of impact would be. Yes I know they are not "10" items long, but hey a guy needs choices...

Interesting is that most of these discussion do not get into the engine itself unless someone is really focused on power, where we get into rebuilts, cams, intake systems, supercharging, 3.8kits, etc. These modifications are a much smaller group of 993 owners.

Performance, handling and longevity Increases
  1. Major - Driver training
  2. Major – Shock/Spring upgrades
  3. Major – Front suspension bushing replacement
  4. Major – Sway bars upgraded (RS or equivalent) - fill make the ride a lot firmer though
  5. Major – Regear transmission (expensive)
  6. Major – wheel/tire upgrades
  7. Medium – ECU upgrades (chipping)
  8. Medium - Oil cooler fan over ride switch (for longevity)
  9. Medium – remove engine tray (for longevity)
  10. Minor – Tie rod pinning
  11. Minor - Front strut brace
  12. Minor - RS engine mounts (mixed responses here)
  13. Minor - Lightweight clutch & flywheel (good option if clutch is worn)

Cosmetic and comfort items (no real performance increases)
  1. Major - 996 steering wheel
  2. Major – Upgrade to sport seats or beyond
  3. Major - FS golden rod and short shift kit
  4. Major - Xenon light kit
  5. Medium - Exhaust system upgrades - Fister mufflers, Fabspeed X-pipe with 200 cell cats, tips
  6. Medium - LED lighting
  7. Medium - Front protection bar
  8. Minor - Turbo S brake ducts
  9. Minor - Front wiper arm flip
  10. Minor – Tails, spoilers
  11. Minor – Painting interior bits - Cooling fan, trim, etc.
  12. Minor - Cup holders
  13. Minor - Motor Sound by drilling the box
  14. Minor - Sound system upgrades
  15. Minor - Rear wiper relay change (1 sweep not 3)

Lightening the car to go faster (with corresponding depreciation of the car) - some harder to reverse than others
  1. Remove the rear seats, carpets, door panels and all sound insulation
  2. Replace interior with RS carpet, RS door panels & bucket seats.
  3. Run with no spare and a repair kit
  4. Lightened battery
  5. RS Pulley - Single belt drive for alternator.
  6. RS Heater bypass - Remove engine compartment heater fan
  7. Delete cruise control
