As an alternative for the 'RS uprights & track rods' mod., I would suggest the more simple 'Tie Rod Mod.' by pinning the tie rod

Best regards,

Marco

In your opinion

i enjoy those mods as much on the street as I do on the track, If I want plush Ac'd ride and all the amenities I drive something else, neither of mine has AC, radio, cruise etc, I don't miss them at all. The '76 is even cruder than the 993 and that's my summer daily driver.

Interesting to hear that, Bill. I try to avoid driving my autocross appliance that has no A/C, no radio, short and loud exhaust, 800/550 springs, etc. 993, on the other hand, with working A/C, not too stiff M030s, radio, mild LPMMs is a decent daily driver for me. But when A/C was down on my previous 993 cab I was not enjoying it much. 993s has been my daily year around for the past 9.5 years.

So, yeah, it's all a matter opinion. I just want to mention that I'd do any mods only after clear understanding of why this particular mod is needed and what positive/negative effect it'll have.

On that note, I strongly advocate trying to drive a local car with the mod you are considering. Rennlist is a great place for doing just that as a lot of 'listers would gladly let another 'lister try things out. On that note, my car is always available to test out HD/M030 suspension with Walrod bushings, 996 heated seats, HIDs, Rennline pedals and assorted other stuff I've put on the car over the years.

Boy Bill you sure know how to make me feel guilty leaving my A/C in. Given all the cars I have had without it I may remove it yet. Mostly I am hoping to get my wife in the car for the occasional trip...we'll see how that goes.

Great mod, but much easier to pull the intermittent wiper relay and just park them on the passenger side

Different climate, Different traffic patterns, Different useage. But from what I recall up in the mountains you wouldn't need it.

Here it's all mostly rural and mild, On blistering days if I have to go somewhere i take an AC'd vehicle

I'm in the "leave it as the factory delivered it" camp for the most part, unless you specifically require what changing from said stock condition gets you. Hence, one stock street cruiser (with AC, stereo, and......gasp......cruise control that I used for about 68 of the 70 miles I drove the 4S today), and another about as deviated from stock as you can get while still utilizing the factory supplied body shell.

Looking back over the 30+ years I've been messing with 911s, my own + customer cars + prospective customer cars + cars observed on the street and track, I'd say the vast majority end up with worse performance than if the guy had merely left the car alone.
