Recommended modifications for 993's

I would simply say - figure out what you do not like in a 993 for your particular application and modify that if you feel it'll improve what you need improving. And not hinder other things.
Racing catalytics, full race suspension, taking out A/C and a number of other things do not work well on the street, for example.

i enjoy those mods as much on the street as I do on the track, If I want plush Ac'd ride and all the amenities I drive something else, neither of mine has AC, radio, cruise etc, I don't miss them at all. The '76 is even cruder than the 993 and that's my summer daily driver.

So, yeah, it's all a matter opinion. I just want to mention that I'd do any mods only after clear understanding of why this particular mod is needed and what positive/negative effect it'll have.
On that note, I strongly advocate trying to drive a local car with the mod you are considering. Rennlist is a great place for doing just that as a lot of 'listers would gladly let another 'lister try things out. On that note, my car is always available to test out HD/M030 suspension with Walrod bushings, 996 heated seats, HIDs, Rennline pedals and assorted other stuff I've put on the car over the years.

I'm in the "leave it as the factory delivered it" camp for the most part, unless you specifically require what changing from said stock condition gets you. Hence, one stock street cruiser (with AC, stereo, and......gasp......cruise control that I used for about 68 of the 70 miles I drove the 4S today), and another about as deviated from stock as you can get while still utilizing the factory supplied body shell.
Looking back over the 30+ years I've been messing with 911s, my own + customer cars + prospective customer cars + cars observed on the street and track, I'd say the vast majority end up with worse performance than if the guy had merely left the car alone.
