Default Humming sound from Cllimate Controls

With ignition off and controls off... anyone hear a soft humming sound from the ac/heating controls? Kind of like hearing an old fluorescent starter/light sound in a quiet enviornment.

If yes, did you correct it?

I think the controls have a small fan.

there's a small fan on the CCU, it's normal for it to run for a few minutes after the car is shut down

You might also hear your clock running.

Fair point, thx, but is coming more from climate control area, after verifying with a stethoscope. Just checked an hour after my post and the noise is no longer there. Odd as don't ever recall hearing the noise before. Will keep monitoring. It is not a short, as the trickle charger shows battery is fully charged.

I seem to recall a fix was posted for that a few months ago. Something about dust accumulation that makes the little fan noisy. As I recall, careful cleaning cured it. Anyone remember the thread?

Here's what I found on CCU fan whine or unpleasant sound in dashboard:

Some might think they have a very noisy clock in the dashboard, but this is often a failing CCU fan. The fan needle bearings wear out, and the fan may be very dirty. You could try to clean the fan rotor, but be prepared to change it, a repair may not last very long. See the details page for more on this.

This is the CCU fan:

Rear:

Clean or replace fan:

"there's a small fan on the CCU, it's normal for it to run for a few minutes after the car is shut down"

And not any longer, or the CCU wil eventually drain the battery.
