I am happy with my DAS but I agree that the fit can be a challenge. I needed a hydraulic jack to bend it for matching the final hole. However, it is a solid piece of steel

Thanks alot for all the helpful feedback so far!

Apparently, Heigo has several models that will fit my 993, but I must admit that it's a bit hard to tell the difference between the various models. Missing photos on their website combined with my rather poor german doesn't really help either. What Heigo model would you choose, and why?

I use the car about 60% on trackdays (no racing) and 40% on the street, the cage will stay in the car at all times.

Regards,
Oystein

If you aren't going to remove it, I'd go with the Autopower/Safety Devices, DAS, Heigo in that order, personally.

In and out all the time, perhaps reverse that.

Yes the Heigo site is very confusing!

I have sunroof 993 coupe so ordered the item below. It is fro sunroof coupe, and has the additional X brace as in picture below. I will have the tubes painted steel grey metallic before fitting. Lead time 6-8 weeks. Cost 800 Euro + freight. Perfect fit form those who have them and looks very nice too.

Gert ordered it for me and checked the part number. SSD refers to sunroof and "clubsport" refers to the additional X brace pieces....

Heigo 516.042= Roll bar, 993, Tunnel bars + X Cross bars

Thanks, Macca...that was a bit clarifying. Who is Gert by the way, and where did you find the "english version" of the Heigo website?

Gert is www.carnewal.com . He is a well known supplier on these boards and is based in Belgium. I ordered the cage through him and he communicated with germany. I just used the auto translation on google chrome but my wife who is fluent german checked my choice for me. the site is actually quite hopeless and Heigo are known to be slow to produce the goods but the quality is very good from what I hear and the fit is perfect.

Just bought the heigo rollbar last year from fvd Brombacer www.fvd.de

http://www.fvd.de/de/en/Porsche-0/99...onal_bars.html
you have to order the harness mounting tube with the initial order.

They told me it would take up to 4 month but it reached Dubai after 7 weeks!

Perfect fit!

Hi Holger. Great to hear you have the Heigo in the car. Love to see a picture installed but looks like you cant post it here. Did you leave the rear seat bases in place and what did you do with the rear belts (remove or leave in place?).

Rear seats are obsolete if you install the roll bar so get everything useless out ...
but anyway, I plundered the car completely, nothing in anymore; lost about 150 kg already, and still trying to get further down. But i use the car on the track only. registration is only for easy access to gas-station and workshop.

Thanks Holger. I use my car for Touring and tarmac rally as well as track so prefer to leave the carpets and sound deadening in there. That said Ill remove the rear seats and belts. Its hot in Dubai. Do you run a second oil cooler?

Just my 2 cents, find someone to weld in a custom roll-bar, it will be lighter, stronger, stiffen the car more and will fit better too.

Thing I don't like about Heigo is the lack of shoulder harness mounts, they really ought to be right behind the seat.

Hi Bill. You can order the Heigo with the shoulder harness bar as in the red car below.

Alternatively you can mount a separate harness bar (cant recall who makes it but a well known supplier) which fits in perfectly with the Heigo roll hoop. Picture below. The advantage of this set up is you can remove the hardware leaving just the Heigo hoop in place if you ever need access to rear for touring or carting stuff...

Ok maybe I attached the wrong picture - those are both Heigo bars with the harness bar option included....

If you do not want to weld, I would prefer the DAS bar. Looks stronger and has perfect mount for 6pt harness.
