OT: Kept the 993 but sold my DD for ... this :o)
My 2001 BMW 740i Sport was starting to cost about $5k per year to maintain,
even at my independent mechanic's shop. I've had my eye on another car since it came out in 2008. Like my 993, I never thought I would actually own one, but now that it costs about 1/3 of it's original price I bought it today. And yes, I got a 5 yr, 60000 mi extended warranty on it from the MB dealer with no deductible.
The day that warranty runs out in 5 years, I will probably sell it. I'll allot myself exactly 12k miles per year so I don't run over in mileage.
Got a great deal on the car from the used car sales mgr since I've known him for a long time outside of the workplace - just couldn't resist getting it. Was initially looking at an 08 E63 but for a few bucks more, I can get the S63 with a lot more room though horrible on gas.
It has no real additional options to speak of and is a pretty basic version of this car. It's fine with me. I really didn't need the back up camera, distronic, night vision or a panorama roof. Been able to get by for many years without any of these.
I'll mostly drive my 911 since it's much more fun anyway, but it'll be great to have the larger car when needed.
I realize this won't be everyone's cup of tea here, but I felt like treating myself for working 50-60 weeks all last year and it really paid off at years end with my best year in many years.

Another silver/black car to match the 993. Hope it fits in my garage! It's kind of big.
Getting rid of the flashier star logo and replacing with the flat badge. Thinking of de-badging it in the rear but I'll leave it as is for a while... I picked a silver car to make it as bland as possible.
Kind of big for a single guy but I love to pile in a bunch of guys and go on road trips every once in a while. Once a month we all do a road trip as well to a restaurant out of the area so it's fun to have a large back seat
Badge or no badge... that is the future question?

Three Wheelin'
beautiful car...I bet it's really nice on the highway. Personally...I'd leave the badging alone. I've really never understood why people "debadge" and change the hood ornament, etc....I guess it's a metter of taste.....l do like that car!

Congrats on the new purchase! I love the older 740s, very nice cars and if kept up a bit of a connoisseurs large sedan in my opinion. The new one will probably be less of a headache though and it is beautiful! Be sure to follow up with a picture just like your first one of both cars side by side in the garage.

I only drove it for 45 minutes, was on the phone 1/2 that time as I had to return customer calls (he let me take it out by myself) and was trying to figure out how to use the radio and climate system the other 1/2 the time. I honestly don't even know how the car drives yet, kind of like the 993. I love the seats, the look of the interior, and the spaciousness.
It took a month or so to figure out the 993 and have a full impression of that car. I'm sure I'll grow into this MB and learn to love it. Like the 993, I mostly bought it because I love the looks of it! In realty, that was my major decision in it's purpose. It just happened to turn out that I adored it's ride and handling to match it's looks.
This was also the reason I bought my first 7 series and I came to adore the 3 7's that I had over the last 14 years. The 2009-10 BMW 750li is nice, I checked one out for a VERY long time recently but I wasn't loving it enough to really want to buy one. I looked at it from every angle, checked out the seating and features and it simply left me a bit cold. It was the looks of it that made me indifferent.
When I looked at the S63 it was the opposite. All I could think of ... was a way to get one.
And yes, I will post a pic of them both in the garage when I get it.
The 993 will then look A LOT smaller...

Congrats! Remove front and leave the rear - a lot of us instinctively look for the badges to have a weigh up - your "63" tells us it has an epic engine
