Nice. This won't last long.

B-Line 03-07-2013 05:09 PM

Considering I have what looks to be this cars sister car...
I'd say you're not asking enough... ;)

Should be worth approximately $149,999. But give a good deal to a Rennlister!!!

B-Line 03-07-2013 05:11 PM

The C2S came with the TurboS twist wheels from factory... What wheels are those? 996 Turbo Twist?

flyingchappy 03-07-2013 05:15 PM

"brakes replaced" Looks like big reds installed, or are the painted?

They look like 996 Turbo Twists to my eyes.

lowside67 03-07-2013 05:53 PM

Yes, you can tell based on the flat face. They might be hollow or solid though...

I don't think so. A '96-'98 C2S did not come with a 993 Turbo S wheel from the factory. The 1997 993 Turbo S came with a special colored (slightly darker and different metallic property??) factory twist style wheel.

widers911 03-07-2013 07:13 PM

Looks like a great deal! good luck with the sale.

Sorry Lex, I'm gonna fight you on this one. I'm 99.9% positive that the 96-98 C2S came with the Hollow Spoke, Turbo S, Twist wheels.

With the exception of the air scoops on the fog lights and in front of the rear tire, the C2S and C4S look identical to the TURBO S, including wheels and Aerokit II.

The 993 Turbo had different wheels and aerokit.

My 97 C2S is on the factory 18" wheels that came with the car.

sorry:(

Just need the room in the shop for the 997 Cup he replaced it with. I don't have a few months to sit on it so I expect to have it gone within a week.

Ocean Blue C2S 03-07-2013 07:38 PM

My 1998 C2S came with 17" Wheels from the factory, not Turbo Twists,

my $ 0.02

They are factory Big Reds. Pads and rotors front and rear have been replaced at 27,417, approximately 2k miles ago.

Nice car!

For the record, the 993 C2S was equipped with 17 x 7 ET55 front and 17x9 ET55 rear wheels (with 25mm spacers on the rear) as standard equipment, and MANY cars were so equipped. Hollow spoke 18" "technology" wheels (option code 408) were an option (18 x 8 front and 18x 10 ET40 rear). The special "hyper silver" finish was exclusive to the Turbo S.

Lex is correct, IIRC, the TTS came with 18" hollow's from the factory that were painted with a special sliver color supposedly with some metallic properties. Do a search on the this forum. The 18" hollows were an M408 option "technology wheel" for the C2S and not standard equip.
In other words, what Tim said.

I stand corrected... I've never seen a C2S with factory aerokit that didn't have the TurboS 18" twists.

Maybe the non-aero cars?

Aerokit and 18" wheels are completely seperate options.

eric523 03-07-2013 08:36 PM

This car had the 18" wheel option. Those became his track wheels and have some Hoosier R6's mounted on them. Those wheels show some track use and have gone through a lot of tire changes. They will be made available separately from the sale.

The current 996 Turbo wheels are the nicer street set with good Michelin Sport Cups mounted up on them.

slickster85 03-07-2013 08:37 PM

Would it take much to get it back to street use?

eric523 03-07-2013 08:40 PM

Would take nothing at all. It had some Sparco seats, harnesses, and a harness bar that have been removed. Stock seats have been reinstalled. This means the stock seats have very low usage and look the part!

The RS clutch and flywheel were removed so his wife could easily drive the car on the street. Clutch is less than 1000 miles old as a result...

slickster85 03-07-2013 08:43 PM

Anything have to be cut/drilled to make the track stuff fit in?

Nope, just simple bolt in stuff. The other track gear could be available at an additional cost.

slickster85 03-07-2013 08:53 PM

Why do all the cool cars have to be on the other coast.

there are many here that will tell you the distance is irrelevant...this from a guy who finally found his "one" 4 hours away. I always think about that Metallic Black/Chestnut C4S in Seattle...about as far from Central New York as you can get really. If I could have actually laid eyes on it...and trusted the P.O.S. dealer that had it...I should have bought it.

That being said, don't let distance seperate YOU from the ONE.

This may sound slightly pathetic but...next to father hood, owning my C4S brings me the most joy.

Or if you live in the Rockies you can travel to the East Coast, West Coast, Texas, Canada or wherever you might find one of these great 993s.

Road trips are always fun, unless you run into snow and or salt/gravel.

gonzilla 03-07-2013 10:21 PM

That car is awesome!

I live in Socal and I went to Kauai for mine.

But then again, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

rome 03-07-2013 11:56 PM

Mine also came from the factory with the '17 cup wheels, but ive corrected that.

H.H.Chinn 03-08-2013 03:58 AM

A new clutch already at 29k miles? This car must have been driven around San Fran! 17" wheels were standard in 1998, the hollow spoke twists were an option. It appears that the head unit and speakers were all replaced at sometime. Good luck!

I'd agree. The head unit is aftermarket and the door speakers too.
The door speakers look to be Dynaudio, if so, the tweeter model MD102 does a require 2.5" hole saw cut of both the door steel and card, or any flush mount component for that matter.

My.02. A strong DE car & streetable car to boot...... what's not to like ! GLWS.

New clutch is a result of the owner returning the car to a more street-able ride for the wifey. The car was upgraded to a RS clutch package but removed it once the wife wanted to drive it. She had a hard time modulating the clutch pedal with the RS equipment for whatever reason...

First pre-purchase inspection yielded good mechanicals, but the prospective buyer would like better cosmetics on the front end.

We chose to offer the car in it's original paint instead of refinishing the front end. It does show it's time on the track, but nothing that cannot be refinished if desired.

If it is ...figure $100K+ now with this low mileage example! The Wide Bodies have shot up to the Moon! Any C2S, C4S Turbo etc...................good luck!

eric523 10-27-2016 11:15 AM

No, no way is this one still available. Should have held on to it longer...

Not quite sure it was this car that your dad may have owned.

Wow, interesting! I don't think I ever saw the yellow calipers on it. We had serviced it since about 10k miles in 2002...

Sold to RLister, not sure if he still has it or resold.

stefn1 10-27-2016 07:10 PM

oh so you've know the car for a while...he sold it in 2000 with 6400 miles on it..said it was too slow, wanted a turbo...i have some photos

eric523 10-27-2016 10:08 PM

that's very cool. He moved on to a 997tt for the street and a Gt3 cup car for the track. Maybe should have held on to the 993 a little longer but oh well... the garage was full and there were slicks to buy!

Nothing wrong with putting out a feeler in a thread that indicates some of its history. This is especially true when it comes to a previous owner.

yes i noticed it was sold 3 years ago thats why i didn't use the phrase "still for sale", this would naturally be the best place to post my interest in the car to find the current owner. relax.

I commend your father on his excellent taste in automobiles, sir.

How much time did you spend stuffed into the back of these things? I probably had a 1k hours under my belt by eighth grade.

This one I was too old to fit in the back, and he only had it a short time. He daily drove a chiffon white 930 for over 15 years that I spend a lot of time stuffed in the back, no luck finding that one though. figured since I was in the market for a 993, this one would be a cool one to have.

Gbos1 10-28-2016 08:58 AM

Ha! My daughter is 7 and she loves riding in the back of mine! But again mine isn't a DD either.

I appreciate the old photographs and personal history on the car. At some point someone may appreciate knowing more about the car's pedigree.

I hope you're able to track the car down, buy it (if it comes up for sale and that's what you want) and restore the brake calipers to original.

That wasn't blatantly obvious.

Why not start a new thread: "anyone know of where this car is"?

stefn1 10-28-2016 02:07 PM

Because this thread already has all the information about the car and plenty of history on it (more current photos), that I could not provide on my own. People are more likely to click on this thread because it shows a C2S for sale at way way below market value...vs clicking on a thread asking to locate a car. by doing so I also have the op involved which is a valuable resource for me finding the car. anyone researching the car in the future would find this thread easier as well. it was blatantly obvious the car was sold 3 years ago...I don't see the big deal here.

It was to those of us who aren't morons. Don't you have anything better to do? Never mind, we all know the answer to that question.

Stefn1, if you want to disgust yourself, feel free to search the archives for Ed's previous posts. They're all pretty much like this one.

FWIW, I didn't and don't see a problem with stefn1's query. IMO, it is just a continuation of the stewardship tale of this particular 993.

Even if its not currently for sale, maybe in the future if it does resurface, someone who has seen this thread will recognize it or someone will find this thread and reach out to me, or say hey I remember there was a previous owner looking for this car...and ill have a shot at buying it then.

I wasn't aware you are a moderator on Rennlist now.

Never claimed to be one. This post struck me as odd. I was wrong. Glad I'm the only one ever misinterpreting something here.

You mean like your technical input of coming up with cutesy nicknames for your cars?

I'm waiting for your DIY write up of how you get those damn kids off yer lawn... :roflmao:

I've done 10,000 times more technical submission here than you can ever dream of. Most of your posts are useless. And, yes, YOU are discussed offline. Put me on ignore.

OK, girls, that's enough. Locking this thread for now and will resume it later, assuming everyone can be civil.
