Default Brake Rotors

I'm planning on ordering new rotors for my 95 carrera and have looked at older threads on this subject and got the impression that Brembo's were the route to go. I've contacted Sunset and Sonnen and neither one could tell me whether their rotors are Zimmerman or brembos. Were the brembos original? Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

The calipers were so I would assume the the rotors were also. We offer a full selection of brake components for your 95 Carrera. For more information Click Here.

Porsche doesn't use a Brembo rotor on those cars; its made by another German vendor whose name escapes me at this moment. These are much better than Zimmerman or Sebro.

I stand corrected then.

Thanks for the quick reply. Steve, are you saying that if I was specifically ordering Brembo's, I would have to go after market? Thanks for the link ECS. Will consider ordering from you.

Will it be stamped on the rotor? I ordered 4 from Sunset which should be arriving today or tomorrow. I'll look on the rotor if it will help.

Nope, not Balo.

The name is not stamped anywhere on the parts,.....once I get my head clear of some projects here at the moment, I'll come up with it.

It was SHW Automotive but PAG have gone multi-source for many parts since I was told that years ago... Their latest quarterly earnings only mention OE composite brake discs for the GT3, Panamera and Cayenne turbo. And the public 991 OE supplier list doesn't mention it (ex. Honeywell manufacturers the brake pads & Brembo the calipers).

The only thing I can see is a faint R marking on them.

Thank you, Jason!!!!!!!!!!!

SHW,....great stuff and that's who makes the 993 ones for the factory. Other cars, other vendors to be sure.

Indeed, they normally mark them "R" & "L", respectively so a tech will install them on the wrong side. That happens a lot when inattention is paid to part numbers.

I see more & more mis-marked parts and packaging right from Porsche so I always always check everything twice.

Most, but not 100% maybe of discs you buy from Porsche will be SHW.

So, can we buy SHW rotors anywhere other than a Porsche dealer?
