JPS, as an aside, I think the way you use your car to the fullest is a true testament to the Porsche ideology. Love it. Ferry would be proud

Cabrios are allowed in PCA club racing. Roll bars are acceptable if you're a rookie candidate in a stock class car (not prepared or higher) and for two events only. After that, you have to go to a full cage if you want to race.

I have a similar dilemna...have you thought about the Recaro Sportster CS? IMO one of the better looking seats that are a good compromise for street/occasional track and still have a recline feature to allow for access to the back seats.
The bolsters are a little higher so ingress/egress is a little more effort but during track use, these are helpful in terms of support.
Leather & Heated is pretty expensive but there are other material options.
Sometimes these show up on Ebay and/or other car forums in the 'for sale' sections...

Swapping 2 seats isn't much more work if you are already doing a rollbar plus one seat. But this means 2 sets of seats and 1 set sitting around taking up storage space all the time. Does resolve all the basic issues with a best of both worlds solution...kinda...
ps. JPS, You are a brave man taking that DAS bar in/out.... I have done battle with mine to install it and I don't think I have enough swear words in my vocabulary to do it more than....ummm, ONCE!

1. I swap seats every few weeks, Cobra "race seats" to sport seats.
Easily done in 20 minutes tops.
The tricks are to use a long handled ball driver for 95% of the fastener turning and replace the factory fasteners with some good M8 X 12 or 16 alloy steel Button Head Cap Screws.
2. DAS bar takes significantly more time as you know. I think your idea to leave the lower cross bar in if possible is sound.
Swap the seats in install - remove the bar during the same operation cycle.
good luck.

Black seats in grey interior look OK IMO

Alright. Now this thread's got me wondering ... are there any Recaro seats out there that are arguably as "all-day comfortable" as my stock seats, yet still appreciably lighter?

For what it's worth, I have Recaro PP (black leather with gray deviated stitching), Marble Gray and Black interior and a DAS bolt-in roll bar. I find them very comfortable and supportive. Around town, it's a trade-off between comfort and support that, IMHO, is well worth it. On track, they're very supportive (6 point and HANS). I have them installed on sliders, so there is a little bit of flexibility with backseat storage, but not enough for a car seat. And I concur with the comments regarding the bottom DAS bar. If you can get by leaving it in, your reinstall will be much quicker/easier. I'm not certain your littly guy will have enough footsie room though.

BTW...pics please? Mine is classic grey Would have preferred cashmere or marble, but insisting on the one exterior color I wanted made it difficult to focus on interior color.

Do you have a good recipe for fitting them in? IE which sliders, side mounts, etc?
