Default Porsche - more for less.

In 1995 the 993C4 was about $65,000 [mine was $83,941], had 272 hp and a top speed of 168 mph.

The third generation Cayman debuted yesterday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with 275 hp, a top speed of 176 mph and base price in the US of $52,600.

So in 17 years the price of a Porsche 2 door with similar characteristics has gone down about $13,000, what a deal................the Cayman S ain't bad looking either.

Taking into account inflation, it probably about half the price!

On the other hand a 991 is definitely getting pricey.

yea the 991 is ridiculous, considering its cheaper interior. I went with my dad to look at the 991 and its definitely not worth nearly as much as their asking price of 114k (Cs with nice options). I can see the interior deteriorating pretty quickly, or at the very least not looking as pristine as a 993 interior

show me a 993 interior that says "this is a work of art" or "pristine"?

you only need to look as far as the 997 to see a real finished interior, esp the chrono ones. the evolution with the 997 says cockpit, fit and finish... our 993 interiors? to me, they say this is a car built in the 90's, looks it, its a drivers car, dont expect much more.... kiiiind of like my old 944! yep, there i said it.

also regarding the OP, have a look at the price of plane tickets 20 years ago.

I prefer the 993 dash to the 997. No nav (which I don't need/want), and a much cleaner simpler no-nonsense design. I also prefer no gongs when I take off my seat belt or any electronic nannies, like having to put one's foot on the brake to start the car, etc.

I like the spartan interior of our 993s, but I agree, I was thinking the same thing.

In fact when I bought my 1995 993, I remembered my 1995 3-series BMW and its interior; the BMW's was light years ahead in design, fit and finish.

But the CEO-like interior of the 997 had me liking the 993 interior much more for what I was looking for in a 911. Our interiors are very 70s/80s.

Actually, the basic 5-guage dash design of the 993 and earlier 911 models harkens back to the 1960s

nav hate is asinine.
the 997 interior is fine, so is the 991
the 993 interior is from the 60s and it shows, which is fine if you like that sort of thing

If you take out the audio system on a 997, its basically as simple as a 993. Look at the GT3's without radios as an example.

I bet there were less entitled rich kids with bad attitudes in the 1960s. I like that sort of thing.

As for nav, I was taught this thing called sense of direction. It really helps. So does reading a map. I never need nav. Use your brain; there's no app for that

still with the entitlement crap huh slapnuts? get over it
the rest of your post is typical bull****
im sure that if you happen to be in a place you dont know your keen sense of direction will help you. but wait, youd rather sit on the side of the road and read a map instead of push a button and have a map...and something that tells you where to go rather than fumbling with a map like the gigantic tool that you are
furthermore, what about if youre in a strange location and you need to find a gas station, restaurant, dealer, parking garage, etc etc etc. youre probably dumb enough to drive around all day looking for this stuff because you think youre such a badass '"roughing it"
what a joke
