Debating between the 21.5 and the 27. Definitely going for the fusion drive. I will probably place an order today.

Went with the 1TB Fusion Drive. I'll be running my old Mac in Target Disk Mode for back-up

I now wish i bought the outgoing model of iMac. I think Apple is going in the wrong direction. Apple did not really need to do the computer slimmer than the previous one. I don´t want an external superdrive on a stationary computer. Even if one don't use it often these days it should still be there and included from the very start. The charger cable to my portable MacBook Air broke the same way as my charger cable to my iPhone. The cable to the portable superdrive should suffer the same fate within a year. Then you need to buy a new superdrive. It´s not possible to just buy a new cable.

I have two older iMacs (24" and 19"), both my daughters run Pro's, and my wife has an Air - and I have to do virtually no $#)*$)*# virus fixes, disk repairs, all the BS that Microsoft brings to the table -> its been a good four years. Her air has been great, no issue with powercables, but she is careful with the machine.

However, I have changed my strategy, when I replace the iMac it will be with a laptop + ;arge external monitor. I miss the portability when I travel to take me stuff with me, I can use the cloud but its not the same, and I can still have a 27" or larger screen.

Cheers,

Mike

I love the design of the new imacs... but i dont want to lose the functionality. We have 5 of the previous generation Imacs at work and they are great. Faster than my previous Mac Pro Tower.... and 1/2 the price

Question: We have an older iMac with a back-up firewire drive. Is there a way of using the firewire on the new iMac?
