Please don't shoot me but...

Has anyone every seen/head of/tried to put a 930 or SC whale tail on a 993?

For some reason, in my mind's eye this would look awesome...

Your minds eye needs to go see an optometrist, and soon :roflmao:

I'm not a fan of tails in general, but there are so many period correct tails for the 993 that might look more appropriate/better. But hey, it's your car

Anything's possible with enough money and fiberglass. And although I really dislike the 993TT tail, RS and RSCS tails look pretty decent on a 993. No tail is best IMO.

The 930 had a turbo tail, and 80's Carreras were available with Carrera tails.

The more I look at 993's, the more I agree that no tail is best. However, my all time favorite spoiler on the 911 shape has always been the 930 and carrera styled tails with the rubber lip at the back... So I've always been curious to know what it would look like on the 993. I figure, that somebody somewhere has been crazy enough to do this before. After all of the abominations that are posted for laughs on the forum, surely this qualifies as a pretty minor blaspheme to the Porsche name :)

No tail! Just nice and smooth back-end :D

Magdaddy Nov 10, 2012 07:06 PM

never thought I'd own a 911 without a tail. I love the split grill that's for sure, but oohhhh those ducktails baby.

Now, someday I'll be sporting the huge bi-plane tail..complete with carbon banana wing atop. Of course there will be big flares on the car, but probably not the appropriate horsepower to justify the look.

The 964 and 994 are popular because of the the removal of rubber/plastic trim as found on the 930.
The 930 tail is just not the same material quailty and appearance of the 964 and 993 turbo tail

AFAIK, the SC never came with the Carerra tail, but some did come with the teatray turbo tail.

I vote no on the original idea. If I were to put a tail on mine it would be a 993RS or ducktail.

never been a fan of the whale tail. love the look of the clean smooth lines with a tail.

Judging by the responses I'm getting, I'm guessing you guys think it's gonna look like this:
