Default Best battery

I've never replaced the battery and figure it's that time. Given I only drive the car once a week or so, what's the best battery to get for this situation?

I have a Porsche cigarette lighter power conditioner but only plug it in when I know I won't be driving for weeks.

This is akin to "What's the best oil". (groan!) Suggest you grab a beer and just do a search. Do you want AGM or Lead/Acid? How much are you willing to pay? Some will say Interstate, Exide, some Odyssey, some Optima, ad nauseum, etc. I prefer the DEKA/East Penn/DURACELL....but what do I know?

$200 plus for a 993 battery is steep. OP from the duty cycle you mention I'd look for a quailty series 48, reqular run of the mill battery. Possibly a 4yr to 5yr grade from one of the major producer's would do the trick ... and at or below $100.
I'm just saying..

Do keep in mind, its heat that adversely effects or kills a battery.

Yup, that's what I'm doing now but just looking at what other guys run before just going out and grabbing one.

$200-300 I guess.

What do you know? Probably more than me about batteries.

The DEKA / East Penn is the battery manufacture I've used, that and their distributor is local to Atlanta proper. Google get's ya there.
Our diesel sedan often requires stout cold cranking amps when nearing the 0 deg F Colorado mountain temperatures. The DEKA / EAST Penn have one of the greatest "cold cranking ampere rating's" of any group 48 battery I could find in North America.

Different strokes for different folks... I don't suppose yours or my 993 will see these temps..

Well, WAL-MART has the Group 48 DURACELL (made by East Penn) with a great warranty for $89. You could buy two of those for what the others cost....I'm just sayin'.

+1 Agreed. The Odyssey batteries are top shelf. Sonny1, you are correct sir.

OP, The 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS offers a lithium-ion battery as a factory option to save weight over a conventional lead-acid battery.

I've gotten a full 6 years out of the last two Interstates I bought at about $100. Seems like a pretty good value.....

Dam, I was going to argue the Odyssey 1200 - Full 4 year Free replacement warranty makes its more expensive purchase tolerrable. Cut's it close anyway.

Great taste, No ! Less filling.

I got 12 years and about 80K miles from the Interstate battery that was in my C4S. That was good enough for me to buy another Interstate battery. Cost me about $100

Can't deny the Odyssey batteries are excellent. I'm using a 680 in my track car....saves me at least 15 lb. and it's about 10 yrs. old. Has yet to fail me.
