How much should a PPI cost?

What is the typical cost of a PPI? Does that include a compression test and leakdown? If not, how much additional should that be? Thanks.

It's different prices everywhere , the cheapest PPI I have paid was in Pennsylvania when I bought my c2s , it was $125 and the highest was in california $375 :) all where done at Porsche dealers...

The price varies a lot. I was quoted anywhere from $400-750 in the SoCal area for a thorough PPI including leak down and compression check. I would think in Houston it would probably be cheaper. I paid $200 for a compression check and leak down on my car.

I have heard of people getting it done for significantly less but I only checked prices at shops that were recommended through rennlist.

I paid $500 for a ppi including compression and leakdown

$175 in LA without compression/leakdown. You're also paying for experience with aircooled Porsche's so expect to pay a slight premium if you decide to go with one of these guys.

I just paid $303 for a PPI in Portland OR. That included compression and leakdown tests.

Usually indie should charge one hour of shop time to test drive, put on lift and go over it. Leakdown is $200-$300 typically. I would ask to shop to do in stages. If car doesn't pass general inspection, why pay for compression test?

I paid $300 for PPI with compression test and leakdown in the greater Toronto
area in Canada ~ for any Canadian members/lurkers/planners/shoppers..

Forgot to add: It was done at a VERY reputable shop!

This is one of those purchases where you don't necessarily want lowest bid-you often get what you pay for here, and the consequences can be costly.

Agreed. I've been reading many of your posts and have to ask, where is Avocadoland?

North San Diego County!

I paid $100

Kein_Ersatz 10-15-2012 12:29 PM

~$400 w/ compression /leak down in Charlotte in April (indie)

DPB15 10-15-2012 04:37 PM

I paid $350 for a PPI with leakdown at an indy in Dayton, and I know that the top indy shop here in the DC metro area charges about $450. Agree with the above comments about not necessarily going with the cheapest.

What Porsche dealer? Was it an air cooled?
