Default spoiler suddenly inoperable???

Just car back from shop after engine out repair to starter. Now the spoiler alert light came on at 60mph and the switch is inoperable. It ain't doing nuthin now. Any ideas? Was working fine. I checked fuse and connection plug on deck hinge.

There's a plastic cover on the driver side with 2 screws that unbolt. Be careful not to jostle the piece around too much as the microswitch is beneath it (controls the motor movement limit stops of the spoiler). Check the microswitch visually to see that the contacts are ok and nothing is broken/bent. Try hitting the switch again and have someone stand at the back to observe if they hear anything. If you do not hear anything, go through the connections again and make sure fuses/plugs are all ok. If you hear a clicking sound and the spoiler is either not moving or skipping, it could be a worn gear tooth. The cable drive/motor might also be another piece to examine. Hopefully it is something simple to diagnose like an overlooked loose connection.

What work did the shop do? The spoiler module is under the passenger dash you can see it from the floor. First make sure it's plugged in, then check fuses.

I did that. Connected under dash and fuse #37 is good.

What would next step be. Was working fine without issue.

Given that you have covered most of the obvious things and that the spoiler worked before the engine was out, I think I would begin to look for a cut wire. They could have pinched something in the R&R process. It will be tedious.

Thx, I'm going to bring it back to shop in the morning. Must be an electrical issue. I'm thinking.

I'd say they missed the plug at the rear, or it got jostled in the engine removal.

Shop said, engine removal didn't require unplugging spoiler. ?

As I suggested, maybe it got jostled? Assuming it worked prior. Start with the low hanging fruit.

I had a problem with mine where the module wasn't making a good connection even though it appeared to be connected, I ended up putting a tie wrap around it to hold it tight, wasn't obvious, but turned out to be a simple fix.
Electrical problems can be a nuisance to track down.

Good luck!

Have you considered leaving it that way? Unlees you're going to do well over 100 mph (and your engine undertray is off....like it should be), probably not needed.

Took it back in and got it working. I have only had the car a month and for 13 of those days it was in the shop costing me mucho dinero. But in the time I had it, spoiler never acted up. He checked electrical signal at the spoiler then just fooled with motor and cable and got it to work.

Yes, the undertray is still on but I am going to take it off.
