Anybody have the sport seats in their 993 re-upholstered?
Are you happy?
Cost? How close or similar to original does it feel? Did they do it in a way so those clips that always come undone on the current sport seats stop coming undone? thx |
Surely thats going to depend on who does the work. The infamous LAPD set were absolutely awful (loose, mismatched seam lines etc etc), but in the case of my Speedster RS recover project, the work was exceptional from sourcing the correct leather to great stitching. Good work costs but you'll be happier with the outcome.

Paul Champagne. Top quality work and a great guy.

Although Im driving a 993 w Sport Seats, I bought a well used set for my 997 and had them re-covered Terracotta by Paul Champagne. Took them 6 weeks to do but looked OE New. He did really great work, I think I paid about $2500

Paul champagne is one if the best, the only thing is that I have been on a waiting in line to get 2 of my 993's done for 8 months and he would not be able to do them til February :(
Can't wait :) |
Returning the seat or seats to Porsche AG's classic facility might be an option.
http://www.porsche.com/germany/acces...lassic/garage/ When touring the newer Renovation/Classic facility last (located 20min north of Stuttgart - Zuffenhausen) a 993tt had its HB sport seats being removed for re-upholstery. If I recall the actual upholstery work was at Zuffenhausen, Werk 1. I'm just saying.......... |
Anyone tried this company?

I've heard good things about the GAAH covers - if you want to try recovering yourself.

How about simply re-dyeing or respraying the seat? Cheaper, no?

Has anyone tried purchasing replacement pieces for the seats themselves? Porsche's website has the part numbers on their classic catalog. With some quick digging, found some part numbers on page 567 of this document:
http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...SA_KATALOG.pdf Did a quick cross check on Pelican and see that certain parts are special order (don't know about availability). http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...20SEAT%20COVER It appears if a seat has the head crest, it may be SOL for a replacement, and prices are pretty steep, all things equal. |
