Hello Everyone, Well, I was backing out of the driveway today and went to grab first and my stick just flopped around, not a single gear to select. After doing a few searches to find the same issue, I came up with the most likely problem was that shifter cable broke. Am I correct with what I found or could it be something else? I also looked for a shifter cable DIY on P-car.com and didn’t find anything, so any help there would be appreciated as well.

No cables on 993. There is a plastic ball/cup joint that disintegrates. That would be my guess. Common problem if you do a search.

It's not a cable. The nylon socket on your shifter rod just failed. You'll need to get the car up on jackstands and remove the long center panel to expose the shifter and rod. Plenty of info. on the forum about repair. Depending on how badly it's disintegrated, you may be able to jury-rig it together temporarily.

Same happened to me a few months ago. Just call FD and get the golden rod. If you feel like splurging, a short shift kit "while your in there" doesn't hurt either! Much crisper shifting and although not a big difference in throw. The SSK finishes up the mod nicely. Good luck!
