Poll: What is primary factor driving price of '98 C2S Rivi Blue 993 to $100k or more?
Like many, I am following the '98 Rivi Blue C2S on eBay with great enthusiasm. I am very happy for the seller, but, am VERY curious about what factor RL'ers believe to be the primary driver of value.
What one thing is driving price more than any other?

1- COLOR
2- Rarity of that COLOR
3- it's a 993 C2S
4- it's a mint example that looks as though it just rolled off the showroom floor. A museum piece as many have called it.
5- there will most likely never be an opportunity to buy this car again. When it's gone it's most likely gone for good.
I've been on the phone and answered more emails about this in the past two days and I can tell you that with out a doubt it is the reasons above in that order driving this car.

yawn. Its some ********' obsession with a stupid color.
If you have a hard on for smurf blue and nothing else will do, you'll pay outrageous money for what is basically nothing special.
part of the value is the low miles, which, if you actually use the car like a car, will dissipate.
so, unless you want to lose your shirt, you have a big baby blue paperweight to put in your garage.

It is ridiculous, no question. Congrats to the seller who has obviously made a good investment. I am not a fan of the "smurf" color either. Is their any Porsche history or heritage associated with this color that I am not aware of?

Seinfeld liked the color. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Now, according to GYMGUY's eBay ad, he has claimed it's a 1-owner car. It's not.
He's also claimed that it's the only Riv Blu C2S in the States, yet RL member "TheBen" saw one here in Los Angeles today. So that's not true. His eBay ad is a little misleading, and for a $100K investment, that would raise red flags for me.
It's a nice car, but the seller stretches the truth sometimes. And whoever buys it for $100K will have a hard time getting his money out of it unless he never drives it and holds on to it for a long, long time, since only a very few people with Smurf Sickness will fork over $100K for a $65K-$70K car.

Personally, I like the color combo (Rivi over cashmere).

I went with other. It is the very combination of the paint-to-sample uniqueness (made more attractive in that it is an original 993 colour), "last year" status (I get soooooo tired of this as well as the "last of the air-cooled" hype), and Widebody style (you like what you like. I like NB coupes. Shoot me). Any one of these factors adds to the price. All three together, as has been shown, are the perfect storm.
