True Story: Today I was getting gas 1/4 mile from Dealership. While bored I opened engine lid to shop a fellow bored customer - spotted a big gap / tear in Engine Air Intake . What the heck I might as well let Brahman Porsche order me one or at least get the part number (993-106-403-00).... They had it in stock! I paid $85 and felt like it was Christmas. At 14 year old part in Stock! now I am looking for 'instructions' (thanks Rennlist).

Yes as a 993 gets older the phrase "blow-out" should be avoided. Luckily in this case its normal and easily replaced in your driveway. Check for chunks inside the hole and around the engine compartment as you don't want parts to get in your fan, fan belts or melt on the cylinder cooling fins.

Glad this thread got revived. I don't have that issue - that I know of - but going to check now!

I'm really thankful for all the knowledge shared here and that link to the parts catalog....sweet!
