The genuine 'Technology' hollow spoke wheels were available in both normal and wide body offsets as option 408. Here are the specs :
8x18 ET52 (Front - all models) .......993.362.136.00 weight 19.95 lb
10x18 ET65 (Rear - narrow body)......993.362.140.01 - 23.36 lb
10x18 ET40 (Rear - wide body) ......993.362.140.00 - 25.13 lb
Making a good comparison to Turbo Look (solid spoke) as came standard on the Carrera 4S or as option 413 :
8x18 ET52 (Front - all models) .......993.362.136.01 - 25.57 lb
10x18 ET65 (Rear -narrow body) ......993.362.140.04 - 29.32 lb
10x18 ET40 (Rear - wide body) ......993.362.140.03 - 31.08 lb
Another possibility for narrow bodied cars is the MY 02 Carrera wheel. These are lightweight, look good, and come in appropriate offsets :
MY02 Carrera
Fronts 8x18" ET 50 19.3 lbs
Rears 10x18" ET 65 23.4 lbs
There are plenty of gen 1 996 18" twists on the market that sellers are incorrectly calling 'genuine 993 tt wheels'. The confusion arises because they also carry a '993' prefix to the part number. The fronts are 7.5" though for the 996 with the part number ending in '06'.

in answer to your other question - what mod is needed for 18" wheels on a 95? there is a bracket that should be added to the steering rack to reinforce it. its an inexpensive part and an easy DIY - two bolts... only applies to 1995 993s. good luck on your search for the perfect wheels - be patient and you will find the perfect ones....

When I googled those part numbers for the "hollow spokes" in images and in search I kept coming up with "turbo twists" and not 996tt wheels as pictured in most of these posts. Am I missing something? What is the official name of the wheels that came on a 2001 996tt? I thought they were called Techno Twists and not Turbo Twists?

996tt Techno wheels can be seen here.

Got it, "Twist II's" is what i want in a NB set. The part numbers i googled imaged above nearly came up as regular Turbo Twist (993 variety) in images. That's why I am not 100% on those part numbers. I know the NB Twist II's were rare oem factory on 996 NB cars. Would like to know the part numbers and dimensions for those wheels.

The offset is the key thing to check if you're going after 996 wheels - the different versions may look the same, but get one with the wrong offset and you'll have them either rubbing on the wheel arch itself or liner on the inside. As I noted before, folks call these wheels different things and regularly interchange 'technology', 'turbo twists' when describing them in for sale ads etc.

Agreed but I have never seen a NB with them, not even a picture. Got one you can share?

Hey guys,
This is my first post, I've been looking around here since I bought my 1995 Porsche 911 (993) back 2 years ago.
My 911 is bone stock and after much thought I've decided to do my first mod. I found a seller on CL that had a set of OEM 996 Turbo twist 18" rims and decided these are the rims I want on my 911.
However before I pull the trigger I just wanted to find out if they would fit and bolt on to the car with no modification or issues.
Can anyone confirm this? The rears are 295/30/r18 and they look bigger than my stock 17" that came factory on my car.
My car is a 95 Porsche 911 cabriolet 6spd manual.
Thanks!

rears will stick out ~ 1.5" on each side
that's it.
