95 C2 Cranks normally when turning key but doesnt fire up?
Gents,
Ran into an issue today. Had the car out running a few errands around town and at third location (driveway on slight incline) car would not start. Cranking sounded really healthy but just wouldnt fire up! after the third try i just left it for fear of messing something up. Any ideas? Car has been flawless since i picked it up except for this incident Still learning all the details of my new to me ride. Moisture in cap and rotor? DME relay problem?
Looking for somer opinions before i get it towed top the local indy

If you are handy with a soldering iron you might attempt a repair.

I had a similar problem. Sounded like it was turning over, and heard the DME relay buzzing. All and sundry thought it was the DME relay. It turned out to be a loose earth connection to the ECU.
Strongly suggest checking earth connections before buying stuff or calling breakdown services.

Try this:
Good luck,
Terry
- Make a 3-wire jumper (Three ends joined together and three separate).
- Pull the DME relay and use the jumper to connect DME relay terminals 30, 87, and 87B.
- Try to start the car.
- If the car starts, it was the DME relay.
- Do not leave the jumper in place...This is for testing only.
Good luck,
Terry

A BIG THANK YOU! Removed the DME knocked it against asphalt and bingo
2 new one's on the way from Pelican. OEM dealer up here wanted $109.75 each,
beat it!
Bought 2 new DME's and one AC / Cooler relay for less than they wanted for the one DME up here
You guys rock!

I had this problem and assumed it was the DME (still the original one). I got two new DMEs so I'd have a spare. That wasn't the solution.
In my case, the crankshaft position sensor's electrical signal varied from weak to almost non-existent. When it was really weak, there wasn't enough juice to allow the car to fire. My indie diagnosed the issue and replaced the part.

Can you replace the CP sensor yourself? Sounds like another part that fails frequently.

I dropped the car at the indie and went out of town. They duplicated the problem, checked various electrical items and used a scope to confirm the failing reference sensor. When they called with the results, I told them to go ahead. The bill for the part was almost double the cost listed on Pelican's site. Labor was $320. I suspect most of that was diagnostic time, not for removal and reinstallation of the part.

Yeah, a shop has got to make some money and cover their costs, which these days is a real challenge. Is that about 4 hrs of work (i.e. what is their hourly rate?)
Cheers,
Mike
