Default Intro: New addition to the family........

.......of cars.

And to start I will just say, no I don't have the money for a real one, so this will have to do. Kind of an impulse buy......just to damn cool to pass up.

56/57 Speedster. Not sure of the brand. It says Classic Speedster on the steering wheel and has a Glen Burnie MD special ID number (vin) plate on the door jamb. It has a 1500 motor with duel Kardan (sp?) carbs and built on a shortened bug pan. It's a blast to drive! Close to riding a motorcycle with no helmet. Its mildly loud, smelly, and raw......

Started going through it already: Moved the driver's eat back so I fit behind the wheel! Oil and filter change, have got tune up part coming. Flush the breaks tonight (has a pull to the left under braking).

Creature comforts? NO No air, no heat, no top, no radio, no windows.....nada, just wind in the hair driving and lots of looks and thumbs up from passers by

It is a blast to drive. Its not fast (but has its own bit of scoot to it), its a little sloppy compared to our cars, but its just a hoot! Its what I wanted when I bought my 914 3 years ago, just a nice little driver. 3 years later, the 914 is still a carcass getting metal work done and not going to be driveable for years probably. So I thought I'd grab this, have a little fun with it, clean/fix it up and sell it maybe this fall (or next spring), then I can start looking for a track car again (which is what I was doing when I came across this thing).

Very cool!

Glen Burnie is home to the world's most horrid DMV. Since the car does not have a manufacturer's VIN number, the DMV issues their own.

They do the same thing for 'home made' trailers.

Sorry, the MVA at Mondawmin Mall is far worse than Glen Burnout.

I was just looking at the Intermecchanica web site...

For those of you that have one of these replica Speedsters, how well received is the car at PCA and other Porsche events?

They look like they would be a lot of fun, and they would be fun to take on some club driving events, etc., but if everybody would be shutting you out because you have a fake, I guess you'd just have to drive it other places....

Personally, I wouldn't care but then I have a Cayenne too so what do I know.....

I would love a 356 Outlaw type vehicle but would most likely want a Coupe.
