Aventura Green vs. Aventurine Green, same color?
 

Are aventura green and aventurine green the same color?

Does metallic make a difference?

Is color code 39R and 39S the same, other than one is solvent based and the other is water based; and which is which?

I have read some of the threads on and around this topic and confess confusion.

For the second time they are the exact same color.39S is a water based.The difference is the "paint system" used. 39S has a paint system code of WP2( water-baked paint,pearl-color effect,double-layer process)and 39R has a paint system code of P2(pearl-color effect,double-layer process). All of this info is in the Porsche Service Paint Manual on page 3.3.8. PM me with your email and I will send you a copy.

Aventurine might be the most misspelled color ever, which is something for what must be a rare color. Saw a car advertised as "adventurine" the other day

They are both correct and both the same color.The 96' US 993 Color samples listed the color as Aventurine while the 97' US color samples have it as Aventura.Both are color code 39S for US 993 cars. PM me with your email and I will send you copies of both the 96' and 97' 993 color samples.

How does adventurine relate to these paint codes?

Read posts above. The same 39S is listed as both Aventura and Aventurine. The 94' Porsche color pamphlet (printed 8/93) has it listed as Aventurine(K6) and the 96' Color pamphlet(printer 8/95) has it listed as Aventura(K6).Give me your email and I will send you copies of both the 94' and 96' Porsche Color pamphlets so you can see it for yourself.

In simpler terms Porsche changed the name of the color(39S or K6) in there pamphlets.

BTW I think you'll find "once and for all" never happens on Rennlist. Try searching "engine tray/pan..."

"Aventurine" is a type of stone. "Aventura" may be the German language (or other language) equivalent.

Exactly. There's only one way to spell the name of the stone Aventurine .. it's not open to interpretation.

True story. It’s the Summer of '96 and on the Warner Bros. lot each day is a MY96 993 in green with a saddle colored interior. My wife who was/is a Partner with Andersen Consulting is pitching WB on a People Soft HR proposal and each day she walk's past this particularly new 993 coupe. During an executive meeting one day she chimes in after the WB HR lead mentions his new 993. My wife bet's him the spot that she knows the Porsche color code of his 993! Why its Aventurine Green Metallic and for bonus points the AG color is a tier 1 paint option code XYZZ blah, blah. The WB exec ate **** in amazement....
She would explain later that her husband (me) was ordering a 993 and as a result had studied the Porsche 993 order guide from stem to stern ..... (gasp) which means pretty much that she know's the P car options codes.....like it or not.

On any given day there can be a pop quiz... "what's the color code of that Porsche?" Why ist LY7U .... Stone Grey Metallic! Gotta luv her!

Let me re-pose the question: how does adventurine relate to these paint codes?
