Default Recover vinyl with leather?

I'm in the process of going black, and recovering my vinyl with leather. So far, so good, but I have questions about one piece. Has anyone recovered their vinyl door tops/arm rest with leather? I ask, as the vinyl appears "molded" with the padding, and not just a glued on piece. I'm afraid if I try to remove the vinyl, I will ruin the door top. I'm also wondering if I can just cover the vinyl door tops with leather.
Any experiences or suggestions?
thanks

i have an extra driver side cap, in Midnight-blue. It has a small tear in the vinyl. (thats why its an extra ;-) )

If you want it for practice, $50+shipping and its yours. Not sure where the Zion Curtain is....

It is molded vinyl and you can cover it. Just and FYI, most leather parts from Porsche are vinyl covered with leather. It's much cheaper to produce this way.

Thanks Kevin,
I also confirmed this from Classic 9 leather shop who stated this same thing. Now I'm off to my nearest leather guy for some black magic.
