Default Smurf RSR build

As a few of you know I've been hoping to do this for about 2 years. Certainly it was Rob's intention to eventually build the car out to RSR specs so I'm enjoying the prospect of following through on his plans. He did a fantastic job of building the car to Cup spec and beyond .

So, with most of the parts now collected, figured it was time to start a thread on the build. Hope to have the car on the track for summer.

Brief summary - after I bought the car from Rob in 09 I further upgraded a bunch of stuff as follows:

-Moton clubsports
-700f/900r springs with helpers
-Tarett drop links
-RS sway bars
-Rennline adjustable accl pedal
-Rennline camber plates
-Rennline strut bar
-MA Shaw CF hood
-Rothsport billet shifter
-FD Motorsports golden rod
-Rothsport clock hole plate
-Rothsport RS fan pulley
-Rothsport steering wheel QR
-Fabspeed headers and custom muffs/tips

Here's the link with pics for most of the upgrades to date:

Ok, since we're all parts junkies, here's the list of collected goodies for the project... All body bits are from Mike Shaw who was really helpful with input re. first generation RSR.

-FG front fenders (I can't bring myself to cut perfectly good OEM fenders)
-CF 3.8 rear tailbase
-CF 60" wing
-RSR flares & rockers
-RSR front splitter

I'm rebuilding a set of wheels to 9"f/11"r with fresh Michelin cups. Can't recall my offset calculations at this time but may need to use 3-5mm spacers to get scrub radius and offset dialed in.

Some guys here who have gone this road before (special thx to Bob, Jeff, Chris C.) helped me with spacer dimensions to adjust mounting points re. increasing front subframe/a-arm width. The real labour is going to be taking apart the front end to do this, flip the camber plates, and dial everything back in. I will post pics of the process to help the next victim.

3.8 motor is enroute to Steve Weiner & Jeff Gamroth for some attention:

-Rothsport slide valve ITBs
-Cup resonance plenum
-upgraded injectors & fuel pressure regulator
-Coils (distributors )
-DTA engine management
-Rothsport crankshaft pulley

With the transmission out, we installed a solid RSR tranny mount and Patrick Motorsport billet transmission side cover. Tilton CF clutch and Sachs flywheel are awaiting motor return for final assembly.

Thx as always to Billy & Kurt at EA who are going to host, help, and hound me as the project comes together.

love that noise!

Darin and ran into Jeff at Rennsport last year, got to hear/see that car up close and personal in the paddock
And fondle a set of the ITBs he had in his trailer.
Beautiful piece of engineering
