I'm getting a 2012 VW Golf R. It is the third generation of R branded Golfs, my R32 is the first generation.

The new Golf R is much more refined than the previous two generations, but more powerful and better handling.

I am definitely going to miss the glorious sound of the R32's VR6, as the new Golf R will be a turbocharged I4. But the better ride, handling, and ergonomic amenities should make up for that.

It was nice to see everyone yesterday. Bummer I had to bail during the middle of our first leg and still made it home later than promised. Hope to make a longer run later this summer.

You got it Marin. The shot of your car with the river in the background is awesome.

Your GF took great photos Oliver, especially considering the speeds

Waiting for a certain "curve lover" to chime in with his batch of photos

Oliver--They certainly won't be anywhere near as good as Ashley' s ... awesome

Greetings from inside a large aluminum tube that just landed back near school - & back to reality
...but I can't imagine a better wknd break get-away in Manhattan.

Ilko & all-- HUGE thanks for the incredible memories of your great roads, scenery, & most importantly - some of the nation's coolest, most welcoming RLers

"Navigator"? Pretty sure that's someone who can navigate.
You picked the greenest guy of the group - I've only seen NY/NJ/CT from the air. U R brave!
Guess I was slightly better @ navigating than your GPS
...but only after it died

That's only fair ... since I seemed to be taking a mental nap every time you needed directions.

You know the deal...
Keep low expectations til they're downloaded - might look great on my camera's small screen now
...but Murphy's law says they'll all be out of focus when finally downloaded!
Best to enjoy the great photography shared by the folks who actually have talent (above).

Sadly, I probably won't have anything that will come close to doing your new wheels justice. But I'll gladly tell the world now how incredible your custom-made RH wheels are.
Everyone who sees 'em will love the lip

Hopefully post pix later this week - after finishing a neglected thesis paper that's due now.

If I haven't flunked out by next weekend I look forward to seeing new friends again, @ the NY Int'l Auto Show, maybe Hershey after that

New York / New Jersey / CT & fun-luving RLers in the area--

I'm back in Manhattan. Flew in last night; fly out tomorrow (Sun) AM.
Anyone going to the Javits Center today feel free to PM me to meet up. Auto show ends tomorrow.
Next Sat's Hershey PA drive still looks promising (thanks in part to some generous RLers); hopefully see you on the road or at the swap meet.

BIG thanks to RLer AlpinaDvl, for picking me up at the airport last night & showing off NYC by night
A blast seeing him in his east coast environment - we've always met up on the west coast.
Alf's exceptional. The more I'm around RLers the more I realize what a great community this is

^^ Sure enough, here's the first one downloaded from last Saturday.
Real life was much more impressive ... waking up to Ilko's gorgeous C4S gracing 42nd & Lexington to pick me up in Manhattan!

I'm a fuzzy focuser...

Kudos to Todd for being one of the very first in the parking lot.
Toddster's the eager and enthusiastic owner of a "new-to-you" GR C2 from Danbury Porsche.
His zeal for the day's driving was contagious

My camera & I were still waking up; another fuzzy photo:

Talking another fuzzy photo (at least I'm consistent)

Yet another new owner: chsu74

Great fun to meet new-to-me RLers, who are keeping familiar 993s in the RL family:
Chao's Turbo (previously owned by RLer DFWPorsche)...

...& owned by MarkD the last time I photographed it (Laguna Seca Monterey Historics, CA, 2009):

Memorable man, memorable Turbo. Congrats!!!
