I'm smitten w/ that car, looks gorgeous. At least in pics, haven't seen it in the metal yet.

I went last night to our porsche dealer event looking forward to seeing the 991 since I was impressed with the online photos.
the shape was beautiful under the cover, once pulled off I was sadly unimpressed.
certainly is a great looking car, I didn't even mind the bigness of it. but I felt no car lust whatsoever.

going back to my little car it looked so dated, not sad, just of an older century.
ended up standing out in the cold parking lot talking 993's with a couple other owners so the night wasn't a complete waste.

I was anxious to see the car in person and made it to the local dealer for their official intro. I like the overall shape even though the longer wheelbase makes it look more "ordinary" to me. I am undecided on some of the sharp angular details but the excess signage on the rear end is just bad. The wheels do look big but that's coming from the perspective of someone who likes older cars.

Had a piece of the 911 cake (with operating headlights) shown below.

I think it looks much more exotic than the previous 911's. I'm really interested in seeing the cab.

Hell, the only car I could focus on in your pics was your car. Whata beauty.

I have had the four before. the 993,996,997.1 and now the 997.2 Porsche has been secretly doing stuff behind our backs for years. You know the sneaky lengthening of the wheelbase. There was a big on after the 993 to the 996 I think. But what Porsche has done has made it totally not accessible to work on, AND after all these years this 991 has the same demensions of the 928.
But I do like the new spoiler.

Did any of you guys have them open the sunroof? Damn! I had them open the sunroof on 2 of the 4 cars, totally different look. Normally I like a sunroof but if I ever bought one of these I would definitely do "sunroof delete".

Definitely going to be a challenge for DIYer's but then I've never worked on a 996 or 997 either.

I can't help but wonder how much wind noise the sunroof creates when open.

Saw one today in person and here's my verdict:

Exterior: doesn't do much for me. Looks like an Aston Martin rear end and a Panamera (Panamerica?) front end. Nice looking, sure. But I think I like the 997 more. And it's really just way too big.

Interior: oh my god it's nice. I mean, really, really beautiful. Getting back in my 993 I had the opposite reaction -- it's a vastly better looking car from the outside, but on the inside, it's got the same interior quality of the VW Golf I had in high school. Really would love a 991 interior in a 993, but that's impossible of course.

I like it in black. When I got back in my 93 after sitting in the 991 however my feeling was very different. I felt releived and relaxed. The interiors of all the newer cars are needlessly complex, swoopy, and leave no room to find peace. The 993 is elemental inside and out while the 991 and many others are technological events.

Still, I agree it is very nice and well done. just glad I have ***** and dials and big upright windshield.

If only Porsche made a 993 shaped 911 with the new 991 interior!

That would be superb.
