VALENTINE1 EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I had several radar detectors, and the V1's performance won with flying colors...The units themselves are of superb quality, and are made in the USA. My unit is over 5 years old and works like a charm, I picked it up used for 100 buckeroos. If you ever happen to break the unit, you can send it to VI and they will repair it for you for a small fee..good ole fashioned customer service.

Here's an older post I put up a while ago. MV is a very cool guy; not surprised he answered the phone.

I would love to get a V1 but they are illegal here in Ontario. I understand that there are radar detector detectors so if the OPP catches you with one they will confiscate and give a big fine. Anybody have experience with this?

Yes, laser must be stationary when operated, for at least two reasons. First, the operator has to aim the beam, which'd be hard to do while driving. And, second, laser does not (yet) have a secondary beam to account for the motion of the vehicle from which the beam is transmitted. Moving radar does make use of a second beam (aimed at the road) to determine the speed of the operator's vehicle, which affects the computation of speed, depending on whether it's in the "approach" or "follow" mode (one adds, one subtracts). Interesting to contemplate whether laser will follow the development path of radar, making moving encounters possible.
And yes, it does work at night, although darkness does complicate aiming to a small degree.
Back to the main subject of the thread - my V1 has paid for itself 1000x, in both radar and laser encounters.
Regards to all.

My car came pre-wired with V1 above the mirror. The PO took it with him... Something about "not being naked in the new 997TT" (nice upgrade)... Anyway. I was not planning on buying one, since I had not gotten a speeding ticket in over 15 years. +1 month after purchase... BANG.... 55 in a 30... winding road, cop was coming at me.. $285 fine + points on insurance..
Bought one the next week.. Never look back.. just get one....
By my current tracking, the V1 has saved me at least 5 times in the past 12 months, including a run @ 100mph+ in CT, coming back from Mohegan Sun @ 2am. Came around a turn, but I already new he was there...
How many of us can be the quote on the back of Panamara magazine?????.... ;-)

I have a V1 in every car I own, cheap insurance !
I have it below my mirror in the 993, seems to have a better line of sight out the back and it is easier to reach.
I also had an issue with the suction cups not adhering to the black frit on the top of the windshield

I finally figured out that if I put the suction cups completely in the black stuff they will hold (2+ weeks now...).
Hope this helps!

I agree about the V1 customer service. Being put on hold for 40 minutes by Passport was why I switched to V1. Mike responded personally to an email I sent asking why Chevy Trailblazers set off the laser detection circuit. He provideded a good explanation.
